I’ve been thinking about some things I wrote about China, that appear to go against the mainstream domestic thought, and I have come to the conclusion that I might have misrepresented one thing I and no one else I can think of has mentioned. What if Xi Jinping is so desperate that he is willing to destroy his own country to remain in power?
It has been reported that there was an assassination attempt made on his life. There is always the possibility that he is falling out of favor by the Politboro. There is evidence of that. What if that makes him unstable to the point of him eventually firing off one of his obsolete nukes? I have to admit that I never thought about that angle, but it is worth thinking about.
China has had this attitude about pulling back Taiwan into the fold, for decades, but I believe the real reason they want Taiwan is because Taiwan is much more productive than its mainland relatives. Taiwan makes something China desperately needs: computer processors and related chips. China has lost the capability of making them because of a lot of reasons, including cronyism, lack of capital, technical capability, and expired deals made by US chipmakers.
China has another problem, if not multiple problems, and Xi is front and center at most of the problems. He has tried to bully countries into debt trap diplomacy, and it is backfiring daily. His Belt and Road project is falling into shambles. That was the modern day version of a communist Silk Road. He has a serious problem with his military leadership. He keeps firing generals. His military doesn’t want to go fight his fights. Reasons include petty spoiled brats being forced to wear the uniform, but don’t want to get out of bed. Gross distortions in the decades old one child policy, which got changed because it failed. He just instituted a punishment scheme that punishes the parents for the deeds of the child, and it is being met with a lot of anger and frustration. I won’t get into his human rights problems, or his theft of organs from people who go into the hospital, and never get out, except by a funeral.
And, evidently, his handling of his own creation of the CCP virus seems to continue to haunt him. It is still a huge problem, in China. Some might call it karma, but I do have compassion for those who aren’t members of the Party. It isn’t their fault they got forced at the barrel of a gun with a communist dictator.
So, what if all this is wearing thin on old Xi? I still doubt he will invade Taiwan, but I wouldn’t put it past a worried old fool who can’t do anything right, even in a communist format, to start a world war. I’m not worried about some hypersonic weapon, but there may be cause for concern that an insane tyrant could launch a few nukes.
Just remember that the entire world has turned against China. Would you want to be Xi, after seeing that happen? And you can thank Donald Trump for that coalition. I miss that guy.
