Last week, in Part XLVI, we visited the beach music scene, where the press was the poorly-clad butt of the song parody joke. This week, the focus will be on the fallen butt a bit further north up U.S. Route 13 from Virginia Beach in Rehoboth, Delaware.
If a pratfall is the signature move of a clown, the current occupant of the White House continues to perfect his craft. He also practices sight gags again and again for the amusement of the crowd, and interrupts and annoys other performers during their routines.
Of course, the objective of a clown is to be a laughingstock, and Joe Biden has succeeded wildly in achieving this goal at an international level.
One man who made a living as a clown was Jerry Lewis. Originally partnered with Dean Martin as a comedy sing and dance duo, they made a number of movies together before they split up. Dean went with the Rat Pack, and Jerry continued on a solo career, where his clownish antics were front and center in films such as “The Delicate Delinquent”, “The Nutty Professor” and “Hook, Line and Sinker”. It was said that he was beloved in France, but he also made a mark with his charitable efforts, headlining the fight against Muscular Dystrophy with his Labor Day fundraising telethons that featured “Jerry’s Kids”.
Of course, like Joe Biden, Jerry had his own kids that were able to trade on the family name. His eldest son Gary, funded by his mother, was able to assemble a band known as “Gary Lewis and the Playboys in the early 1960s. During the mid-60s, they were able to secure several Top 40 hits as a result of their own talent and the notoriety of having their front man being the son of a Hollywood icon. The band’s place on the charts faded away after Gary Lewis was drafted and served in the US Army in Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea.
One of the group’s hits that reached the #4 spot on the Pop Music charts was “Everybody Loves a Clown”. Though the relationship between father and son was complicated and at times negative, particularly with respect to family finances, the song does seem to touch on the role of the clown that Jerry so often played to the delight of audiences. Unfortunately, while there is certainly parallels between that relationship and the one between Joe Biden and his son Hunter, Joe’s performance in his current role delights no one but our adversaries.
As a result, I have borrowed the music from this Gary Lewis and the Playboys hit to again memorialize our current Clown-in-Chief:
All know that Joe’s a clown, it’s just so true
Everybody laughs at the things he’ll say and do
Xi will laugh when he sees Joe comin’
But we can’t laugh, ‘cause our country he’s runnin’
Everybody loves a clown, so why don’t we?
As he’s trashing our country
His first day in office and he canceled the pipeline
Now the gas price has doubled on every station’s sign
Now like Pagliacci we’re all cryin’
Because it’s less that our money’s buyin’
It’s easy to see the source of all our woe
We’ve got a clown like Joe
Joe’s just a clown who tries to show he’s woke
He’ll shout “Come on Man” and’ll then add “Not a joke”
But he’s a joke who makes us all curse
But the big problem is that Kamala’s worse
Guess we’re doomed for now as we all know
We’ve got a clown like Joe
Dreamin’ of the time when they all will have to go
Dreamin’ of the time when they all will have to go
