Six Ongoing Cataclysms in America, Part II; The US political class is destabilizing the American Republic

There are at least six cataclysmic events threatening the American republic that have been instigated by the US political class. Increasing press reports provide evidence of in-process cataclysms unfolding in the US, with cataclysm defined here as a “catastrophe,” “a momentous and violent event marked by overwhelming upheaval and demolition,” and “an event that brings great changes.”

Part I examined the first three in the context of recent news reports: Cultural Marxism, Green New Deal, and Open Borders. The remaining three ongoing cataclysms are discussed below.

Chinese Penetration of America

Communist China seeks to replace the current international order with a Chinese-led authoritarian socialist system in which individual rights, freedoms, and the daily transactions among individuals are monitored and controlled by the communist-led state. To do so requires destroying and replacing the US as the world’s superpower with the totalitarian communist regime in Beijing. The Chinese have embarked on a campaign to infiltrate, influence, coerce, and ultimately subjugate the US through penetration and corruption of American institutions and key individuals. Toss in the relentless Chinese spying, and you have egg roll.

Twenty years ago, there were few news reports that highlighted these actions. In recent years, it has become clear that virtually every sector of American society has been infiltrated and corrupted by Chinese money. Some examples from past news reports:

• Political class. While it is finally becoming common knowledge among many Americans that the Biden family received “$31 million from five deals in China” involving members of China’s intelligence services, communist China’s corruption of the political class began long ago. The list of US politicians with China ties is long and includes the Clintons, Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, and Mitt Romney. As a result of this ongoing corruption, China was granted Most-Favored Nation status for trade purposes, and over the years, various Commerce Dept laws were relaxed to facilitate Chinese access to US technology. Corrupting the political class enabled Chinese penetration of other key sectors, some of which are noted below.
• Academia. According to a report in The Philadelphia Inquirer, “the tally of gifts and contracts from China to U.S. universities since the start of 2013 is approaching $1 billion.” The National Association of Scholars reported that there are still 18 Confucius Institutes operating near American campuses, which is down from a high of 120. Confucius Institutes are funded by the Chinese government to “infiltrate American colleges and universities to enhance its own image,” as detailed in this report. A more direct influence operation is exemplified by anonymous Chinese donations totaling $54.6 million to the University of Pennsylvania, with most coming after the establishment of the Biden Center was announced in 2017, as reported by the New York Post here. That influence pays off, as Tony Blinken, a former managing director of the Biden Center, is now Joe Biden’s secretary of state. And is this report from Fox News just a coincidence? “China-based entities, including the Chinese government, secured $120 million in contracts with American colleges in 2021, federal data reveals.”
• Media. Chinese penetration of several large US media corporations, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC & NBC, ABC and ESPN, and Bloomberg, was detailed by The Federalist here: “[R]epresentatives from American companies with financial ties to China naturally become defenders of the CCP’s policies and spreading the CCP’s propaganda.” China has frequently purchased advertising in US media in order to influence narratives, including this report from Washington Free Beacon: “China Daily paid more than $1.6 million for advertising campaigns in Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Financial Times, and Foreign Policy magazine, according to disclosures filed with the Justice Department.”
• Tech sector. The US technology sector is the mother lode for next-generation technologies sought by the communists for military and economic reasons. US tech billionaires have long-standing ties to China. Apple’s Tim Cook signed a $275 billion deal with the government of China last December, as reported here. As reported by Fox News here, US lawmakers have expressed concern about leakage of classified technology from Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX operations in China to Chinese companies. According to Reuters, “more than 20 Silicon Valley venture capital firms have close ties to a Chinese government fund or state-owned entity.” Venture capital-funded startups in Silicon Valley are frequently the originators of the most advanced and innovative technology developments in the world.
• Entertainment industry. China is the No. 1 box-office market for movies in the world, and thus has begun to exert enormous influence in the production of Hollywood movies. Only positive images of China are allowed into the Chinese market, which results in self-censorship by Hollywood producers. That leverage is also being used by the communists to develop their own movie industry in order to propagate movies that advance the CCP’s various pro-China narratives, as reported in detail in The Atlantic here. The above are examples from past news reports of the ongoing corruption of US institutions by the Chinese. One result is the suppression of negative news about China, including Uyghur and Tibetan genocide, organ harvesting, rise of the People’s Liberation Army, and suppression of COVID information. All of this is intended to hide the emerging Chinese threat from unsuspecting Americans.

Corruption of Public Education

Capture the children; capture the future. Totalitarian regimes such as Nazi Germany (Hitlerjugend – Hitler Youth), Soviet Russia (Komsomol – All-Union Leninist Young Communist League), and Communist China (Chinese Communist Youth League) took explicit measures to groom children to conform to the respective state’s political objectives. Accordingly, these regimes understood the need to substitute state control for that of parents in the education of children. To achieve their own very similar political objectives in grooming successive generations of children, including removing parental controls from the classrooms, US progressives and other leftists began infiltration of the US education system through John Dewey’s reforms over one hundred years ago, which emphasized socialization and secularization, as noted here. Over the decades, cultural Marxists proceeded to capture the teachers’ colleges and teachers unions, facilitated the development of a symbiotic relationship between the unions and the Democrat Party, and injected increasingly radical ideas into public education in order to radicalize and groom children: critical theory, radical feminism, climate alarmism, deconstructionism, critical race theory, and transsexualism.

In 2021-2, many Americans were shocked by news reports of their own children being forced to endure sexual grooming of their children. Here are several recent news reports of the leftwing corruption of public education being facilitated by the US political class (largely the Democrat Party):

• From Fox News: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed “’Parental Rights in Education’ bill, [which] has been dubbed by critics as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill because it bars educators from teaching about sexual orientation or gender identity to students in kindergarten through third grade.” [Note: the word “gay” is not mentioned even once in the bill, yet LGBTQ+ activists and Democrats used the misnomer to try to defeat its passage into law.]
• From Breitbart News: “A teacher at a Boston-area charter school revealed to young children she identifies as a male and claimed that when babies are born, doctors can only ‘guess’ if the baby is a boy or a girl, but ‘sometimes the doctor is wrong.’”
• From the Blaze: “A pro-LBGTQ eighth grade public school teacher in Oklahoma — who said ‘f***’ parents who ‘don’t love and accept you for who you are’ and ‘I’m your parents now’ in a now-deleted TikTok video — has resigned.
• From The Federalist: A male teacher danced in drag at a middle school in Madison, WI.
• From Epoch Times: In response to increasing nationwide news reports about the sexual grooming of children, “[a] March 11–14 poll of registered voters conducted by Politico/Morning Consult found majorities supporting both a ban on classroom teaching about sexual and gender identity through grade three and age-appropriate limitations after that.”

The US political class (largely the Democrat Party and its media enablers) is facilitating the ideological and sexual grooming of American children and the removal of parents from control of public education. The results will be a catastrophe for the American republic.

Criminalization of Political Dissent

The Democrat Party is increasingly focused on quashing all political dissent by a variety of means including the blatant criminalization of political speech protected by the First Amendment. Democrat political enemies are being labeled as extremists and domestic terrorists, with the force of the federal government being used to silence dissent through investigations and prosecutions. A favorite tactic has been the use of lawfare to achieve Democrat political goals. The premiere example is the ongoing congressional investigation into the 6 January 2021 protest at the US Capitol, in conjunction with the incarceration without trial of hundreds of people guilty of nothing more than misdemeanor criminal trespass. Examples of Democrat-initiated criminalization of political dissent continue to make the news:

• From National Review comes the report of the first acquittal of a J6 defendant: “A non-criminal who was not accused of any violent act, much less of causing a police officer to die, Martin was found not guilty by Judge Trevor N. McFadden on all four misdemeanor charges.” A clear case of prosecutorial overreach.
• From The Washington Times: “The DOJ opened an investigation into the alternate slates of electors put forth by the Republican ticket in seven states following the 2020 presidential election, in response to appeals from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas and U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin — Democrats who expect to benefit politically from media coverage of the drama.
• From Epoch Times: “Two left-wing groups are trying to disqualify two pro-Trump Arizona congressmen and one Arizona state representative, all Republicans, as candidates in approaching elections, for allegedly participating in a supposed insurrection against the U.S. government by supporting the former president’s reelection bid.”
• From Epoch Times: From a defense attorney filing on 12 April, it has been learned that “[a]t least 20 FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives “assets” were embedded around the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.” The tip of the iceberg.
• From legal scholar Jonathan Turley’s blog: Robert Reich, Bill Clinton’s former labor secretary, was called to task for writing an anti-free speech screed for The Guardian condemning Elon Musk’s “vision for the internet,” which Turley stated “offers an insight into the anti-free speech mentality that has taken hold of the Democratic party and the mainstream media.”

Criminalization of political dissent strikes at the heart of the US Constitution, as the First Amendment guarantees were deemed the top priority to the Founders when the wrote the Bill of Rights. The end of dissent will signify the end of the American Republic.

Final Thoughts

The confluence of the six cataclysms is leading to economic, political, and societal disaster in the US. None of these would be happening without the direct involvement of the US political class. None of these are accidental. All are aimed at destroying the American Republic and our institutions. And the rigging of our election systems through ballot harvesting is sealing the deal.
