Our Government Does Nothing Right – Migrant Child Addition

To avoid government detention of illegal minors at the border – and the inconvenient photos of children which that provides – the Biden administration operates an outplacement program. It moves illegal migrant children into private care as quickly as possible – out of sight, out of the news. Some are placed with sponsors, such as extended family members. Others are placed with private child care contractors. It has not gone well – for the children that is. But at least Border Czar Kamala doesn’t have any pictures of kiddies wrapped in Mylar blankets while sleeping in chain link cages to explain while campaigning for a promotion.

Last month The Daily Wire reported that the Biden administration loosened vetting requirements, to release over half a million children to – family members, churches, or other private citizens agreeing to care for them. Luckily the government doesn’t simply hand the kiddies over to complete strangers and then just forget about them. It gives them a welfare check by phone, 30 days after placement. That way, if the youngsters are being used as prostitutes or slaves, the placement error can be corrected in only a month or two – depending on the paperwork backlog. Isn’t that great?

Unfortunately, whistleblowers are reporting that the federal government can’t account for 85,000 of those children – because nobody answered the welfare check phone call. Oh well, that’s less than 1 out of 6 kids lost. That’s not too bad for a government operation – right?

One whistleblower, Tara Lee Rodas, worked at the Pomona Fairplex Emergency Intake Site as an investigator. She reported numerous “red flags” in the placement process which led her to suspect children were being released to gang members and pedophiles, rather than family members.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement took Ms. Rodas’ concerns very seriously. It fired Ms. Rodas, escorted her off the property, and opened an investigation – of her, not the placement system. Problem solved. Czar Kamala can debate that the border situation is peachy – without any inconvenient allegations undermining the narrative.

Our federal government has also been placing migrant children with private child care contractors (i.e., private orphanages). One such contractor is Southwest Key Programs, which has housed 6,000 migrant minors in 29 different facilities. Southwest Key is now being sued by the federal government for allegedly sexually abusing the children in its care. The suit claims that children as young as 5 years old were molested and even raped by Southwest Key employees, while others covered up the abuse. There’s no word on how the welfare check phone calls went for those kids. Note that there are no criminal charges pending for the pedophiles – only a civil suit against the company. It seems the government is more concerned about getting its money back, than providing justice for the victims. That illustrates the value system of those who consider children mere escapees from an abortion clinic.

This little nugget of information got very little mention in the news coverage: According to The Daily Wire, Southwest Key Programs received 4 billion bucks, over five years, to care for 6,000 children. That works out to $133,000 per child, per year, for five years. That’s more than enough cash to buy each child a four-year Harvard education – with 50,000 bucks per year thrown in for room, board, books, and walking around money. Surely it would have also been enough to provide well vetted nannies for each of the children, if the government had any competence at all. But alas, the priority is the narrative not the children.

Joe Biden is responsible for all executive branch operations, and he tasked Kamala Harris with management of border operations. The fraud, waste, and abuse presented above is on them, and we shouldn’t let the public forget it.
