In II Kings 22 and 23, a young king named Josiah took over the nation of Judah. We are told that when he had the temple of God repaired that a book of the law was discovered in a trash heap. Upon hearing the condemnation for those who did not follow the law, Josiah realized that they were doomed. In a surge of renewal and plea for mercy from God, he destroyed the pagan altars and called on the people to return to the Lord. But sadly, as Jeremiah tells us, the hearts of the people did not change (Jer 25). Ultimately, Judah was destroyed.
With Trump’s recent re-election, the United States has forestalled destruction. But only for a short while. While it appears that Trump’s domestic policies will be good for the nation, he has already begun to surround himself with TYNs… The Young Neocons… for his foreign policy. The appointment of Susie Wiles as his Chief of Staff was his first major mistake. In doing this, he fell victim to what we call “Ryan’s Gap,”[1] which says that the time between your candidate getting elected and choosing his worst enemy as his key administrator (in this case Chief of Staff) is 22 and a half hours. In Trump’s case, he went just a little beyond the average.
Susie Wiles is hailed as an outsider, which she is not, describing herself as a “card-carrying member of the GOP establishment.”[2] She is big in Florida politics, along with her ex-husband Lanny Wiles (they divorced in 2017). Even her daughter Caroline is heavily involved in politics. Besides in Florida, Susie Wiles has held posts in the federal government, and once worked for Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, Jr.
More recently, Wiles worked for Ron DeSantis, yet says that her stint with DeSantis was the worst mistake she ever made. Yet, to not have any issues working for Romney seems odd… unless or course you’re really a moderate. As a big political family, the Wileses own million-dollar homes.[3] In my political experience, you only make it financially good in politics by compromising on key issues and “playing the game.”
Jeb Bush, Neocon and RINO extraordinaire, recently posted on X that Wiles was a “great choice” for Trump’s Chief of Staff. And as an aside, we hear that RINO Adam Kinzinger is praising Trump’s reported selection of Marco Rubio as “pretty good.” These things should tell us all we need to know.
It appears that Trump has already crippled his presidency. While his domestic policies may be helpful for traditional conservatives, his foreign policy seems to be headed down the same Neocon road… more intrusion into the domestic affairs of other nations and more foreign wars, especially with Iran and China. These are wars that we will lose at great cost, and could very well not only destroy Trump’s presidency, but the nation as well.
And this brings me back to Josiah. After his incredible push to revive the nation of Judah, Josiah decided to stick his nose into a fight with Egypt’s Pharaoh Neco II, who was at the time trying to save his ally the King of Assyria. Neco even warned Josiah not to interfere, but he refused to listen and was killed at the Second Battle of Megiddo, 609 BC (II Chron. 35).
I might still be hopeful that this will not be the case, but I have too much experience with politics, not to mention being an historian. I believe one of two things are going to happen. Either Trump will find himself fighting with Wiles and her Florida warmongering friends like Rubio and Waltz, and ultimately have to fire them, or he will be swayed by their arguments and lead the United States down a path of foreign policy disaster. Either way, his presidency will be destroyed. In the former, he will waste two years arguing with his own team. In the latter, he will break a key promise to stop the “forever wars” we have experienced over the last decades.
This will destroy his legacy… and lead to a hardcore Leftist winning the Presidency in 2028.
Prepare for the Kamala Harris comeback tour.
