For people who swear they Feel You Pain, they are really cold blooded here.
UnitedHealth CEO shot in cold blood outside NYC hotel, killer on the run.
Hope the hospital he was transported to was in network.
Meme published after UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson was murdered.
In the aftermath of Mr. Thompson’s murder, I’ve seen multiple examples of, to put it mildly, inappropriate memes and comments on social media, e.g., “I’d send thoughts and prayers but I need to get them pre-approved.” On a Yahoo News report, one internet investigator who has helped police investigations in the past was pretty disgusting in her comments about this murder case (emphasis mine).
“We’re pretty apathetic towards that,” Savannah Sparks, who has 1.3 million followers on her TikTok account — where she tracks down and reveals the identities of people who do racist or seemingly criminal acts in viral videos — said about helping to identify the shooter. She added that, rather than sleuthing, her community has “concepts of thoughts and prayers. It’s, you know, claim denied on my prayers there,” referring to rote and unserious condolences.
Liberals lecture others about compassion but seem to have little empathy for a wife who lost her husband, and two sons who’ve lost their father. Why am I not shocked?
This incident reminds me of a Facebook discussion with a high school friend a few years ago. Kelly and I argued over Obamacare and I made the point the purpose of it is not to “improve” healthcare, expand the supply of healthcare, etc., but to be the bridge to single payer. And this man shocked me when he said, “I would love single payer healthcare!” When I asked why, his retort was, “So people like Hokie Gajan won’t have to have a GoFundMe page to get treated!”
Hokie Gajan was running back for the New Orleans Saints in 1980s whose career was ended by knee injuries. After his playing time ended, Hokie became a team scout, a local sports celebrity and one of the radio broadcasters for the team. In 2016, he died at 56 from a rare form of cancer (liposarcoma). To support the man, a GoFuneMe page was set up to help him with the medical bills.
Now my friend Kelly believes if Democrats has gotten “Medicaid for All” through, Hokie Gajan would receive all the medical treatment for his illness, he would not have to pay any (or few) out of pocket costs, and care would not be “rationed” for anyone. It really depresses me that an intelligent man like him believes that.
Any healthcare system must be funded in one manner or another, and that limits the “amount” of health care provided. That means decisions must be made about what is provided, and what is not. It amazes me to no end that someone who’s spent most of their lives in the private sector, who’s primary experiences with government agencies are the driver’s license office or the IRS, have such faith bureaucrats can handle something as complex as a national health system. Most veterans or others I know who have spent their professional life in the public sector can explain the joys of government run health care.
Then we look at where single payer is set up and how great is it? Well, let’s just say it’s not. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, the inherent vice of a free-market health care system is the unequal sharing of blessings, while the inherent virtue of single payer health care is the equal sharing of miseries. But is the sharing of miseries equal? Not really. Remember, some pigs are more equal than others.
Does anyone think when a member of Great Britain’s royal family, needs medical care they wait at a National Health Service emergency room behind countless others? No, there are private hospitals where the House of Windsor goes for their needs. The late Queen Elizabeth was not born in a public clinic, nor any of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.
If the Canadian health care system is so great, why do countless Canadians travel to the overseas for surgery or other medical procedures. The Canadian health care is similar to Medicaid, the government pays so much per procedure, so many procedures a year. If you’re waiting, tough, although people with connections can get put to the front of the list. People are suffering, don’t hear any “thoughts and prayers” from liberals.
Back to the murder of Mr. Johnson, as I write this (Sunday evening) a suspect has not been arrested. And there is no outcry from the Lib/Dim usual suspects about “gun violence,” needing to treat the murder for mental issues, etc. Actually not much from these people at all, and it’s sick. If Chuck Schumer was murdered on the street of New York by man with a MAGA hat on, it would be the only story covered for ages. It fits the template.
I don’t question insurance companies make mistakes (like every human or entity). Bureaucrats in the National Health Service or other socialized medical scheme also do. I don’t know if the shooter personally suffered from a decision of UnitedHeath, or he was just enraged because people are sometimes denied services. I, like multiple veterans, have been denied coverage for service-related issues multiple times. No one I know has taken it out on the Secretaries of Defense or Veterans Affairs, not an administrator at the VA hospital. But is it too much to ask liberals not dance on this man’s grave before he’s even buried?
I think we know the answer. As I finish this post (Monday morning), it’s been almost a week since the murder. And liberals are cheering. Sick.
