Gog and Magog
This series is a condensed recap of the events God planned and promised through the prophets. The purpose of the events is to graphically reveal God and to emphasize His reality to all humanity everywhere. This third event of God’s march of glory is when God demonstrates that there are no other gods beside Him.
As the returning Hebrews arrive and begin to settle in their God-given land, they will face their Jericho. They will face a powerful foe who will oppose their march. Our time in history is God’s march of glory: therefore opposing God at such a time is suicidal. The foe will be utterly destroyed by Jesus/God for the whole world to see (Ezekiel documents this process in great details).
A powerful and massive coalition of Islamic armies led by Turkey and Iran, and joined by others like Sudan and Libya will be pulled together by God’s hook in Gog’s jaw to attack Israel and its people. It is God who brings this coalition to wage this war; because, while the Muslim humans get destroyed, it is their god that God aims to publicly decimate through this process.
No Israeli will fight in this war. When God promised to bring His ancient people to the land of Israel, He promised them that they would live in peace. So they would! This huge army and its incredible arsenal will not be met by Israeli soldiers. There will not be a Hebraic blood price to pay.
In olden times, Jericho demonstrated to all the regional tribes that their gods were no god at all and that the God of Israel would simply steamroll over them. In modern times, Jesus/YHWH will demonstrate that the god of Islam—the most recognized and the reputedly all-powerful “god” outside Jesus—is no god at all. When Jesus shows up; Allah is nowhere to be found. He was a figment of man’s imagination propped up by violence and sustained by ignorance.
All mankind will follow the process of Gog and Magog live on its personal electronic screens. Everyone will know! When humanity’s most well-known, most feared and revered god is thus divinely destroyed; no other “god” can be entertained in the hearts of men.
So, with this step in God’s march of glory, Jesus destroys all false gods, and He also remove all possible argument in favor of atheism or agnosticism. Indeed, by now, all humanity knows that God exists and knows His identity. He destroyed man’s power, then man’s homemade idols and He restored His people. So now, man will never be able to prop up arguments for another god nor argue the non-reality of the true God (atheism) or even withhold judgement about a god-reality (agnosticism).
What a different time it will be. Never in history had God revealed Himself in such a graphic and comprehensive way. Through the next installments, we will look at life then. Life for the Hebrews and life for the Gentiles; we will look at the Great Harvest—the next step in God’s march of glory.
