The Democrats Just Showed It Is All About Power, Not Principal. While The Republicans Rest Up For (Schtuff???)
While republicans were busy doing republican things the democrats made my point for me. The democrats had moved to an all-in position on their hope to disrupt the balance in the senate, with voters giving their Maine candidate a near 72% election endorsement tally indicating that—as endorsed by Fauxcahantas on the campaign trail, he is “our kind of man” as she called out her colleague in the senate Susan Collins.
Nazi tattoo: phffft, who cares—name another faux Oyster Farmer and former military who hasn’t made a mistake. Violence against woman: phffft, that PTSD military related malady, that is forgivable and he has learned from it. Calling out fellow military who deserve to be injured or killed: who hasn’t done that before? Pleasuring himself in a porta potty: er, um, let’s skip that one.
The man was on a heater, alles in ordnung. Everything was in order except for two things, one of which proved fatal. Another very credible allegation came out that no matter how you spin it, it was a rape allegation. Which would have been just stacked with the rest of the ho hum drama being ignored as we drove on to the election.
But then a real daunting truth came out: the polls indicated he had lost significant ground and was now within the margin of error with Senator Collins, neck and neck with a republican who historically over performs against the polls.
And all of a sudden like a light switch being flipped, that was the final straw, ultimate liability for a political candidate that had more benevolence afforded him than the next 25 candidates combined: and he had to go. After all, er, (checks notes,) women and victims must be believed.
With all the dirt that surfaced throughout the years, with the democrats holding their noses so hard it was comical and painful to watch as they fell all over themselves overlooking a flawed human being who was their candidate, it ended.
Confirming for any and all observing this mess play out that in the final analysis it comes down to power and opportunity. No principles, no standards, just the pursuit of a means to an end and that end is taking back congress to fight that Bad Orange Man.
The irony is not lost on any thinking human being with two brain cells and a pulse. Ten years of ranting, railing at the moon, gnashing of teeth calling that Bad Orange Man a fascist-Nazi-ginning up no king’s day sentiments, all made up propaganda that was easily overlooked when faced with actual evidence that a candidate exemplified those attributes and traits, espoused socialist and communist thoughts, that in actuality could have been easily overlooked in pursuit of the dub, as long as it was their guy.
But not if he is going to lose: that is a scale tipper.
Meanwhile the Democratic Socialist Party is proudly touting their platform–their plank—and it is a doozy that is hard to believe is competing for office in America as we celebrate 250 years of independence. This is not our parent’s era of the timid, marginalized, operating in the shadows communism and socialist dogma exposed in The Naked Communist and discussed in congress in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
This is a polished, well-funded band of looney toons who are up front and vocal about their desire to end capitalism and western civilization as we know it. The difference this time in comparison to the battles that took place now 70 years ago is that the infiltration of academia and other institutions in America provided a gateway to the hearts and minds of an important demographic in America: youth. And those children have been lapping up a force-fed diet of leftist bologna for decades: and it has become in their gullible minds and viewpoints a viable alternative.
Notwithstanding that there is no such utopic system that can be pointed to on this earth, in history, or in the universe. Below is what is being touted as their major political goals.

Tell us you don’t understand the US constitution and the concept of a constitutional republic without talking at all. But in actuality the DSA not only understands the constitution, they want to do away with it! If you think the wheels of a republic move slowly now, wait till you see the all-powerful executive and the court system as enshrined by our founders neutered and subordinate to congress. A congress that has been modified by eliminating the so-called long term, strategic thinking element of congress represented by the senate (while true, that is offered tongue firmly planted against cheek.)
Amnesty for all immigrants is an insane idea. There have been many, many, many economic alarms sounded that have explained how disastrous it would be to have government policies rife with a social welfare state “net” mentality that willy nilly dispenses taxpayer dollars from the treasury to those who are in need expanded to include those who are here illegally and not citizens nor themselves taxpayers or contributors to the system: it does not and cannot work.
Milton Friedman pointed out this problem a number of times but there has been a concerted effort to undermine his theory by those who simply cite the fact that this class of people are not authorized benefits. And felons are not allowed to have weapons (and forks made me fat.) Which fails to account for the many states and our government who have granted benefits to them through sanctuary policy and idjotcy. In the second cited article above the authors postulated that Friedman was wrong on the basis that illegals don’t qualify for benefits. Which is an irrelevant truth when you look at the staggering numbers that prove they are indeed drawing such benefits.
Social Security benefits and medical care under various programs has been extended to illegal aliens and is one of the primary drivers behind the doom and gloom predictions of the system going broke within 7 years, with an estimated 25% reduction to qualified recipients. Most of those who will be cut are Americans who worked their entire lives contributing to security and medical programs that were advertised as a cushion or addition in their retirement years, but the funds and programs have been poorly managed by the government to the point where sustainability is problematic.
Coupled with myriad challenges that happen in a lifetime, it has been reported as recently as 2024 that 2/3ds or 67% of seniors rely on social security for more than half of their income.
In the case of these social welfare programs, the argument that the government has been a good steward of the funds or the programs is not supportable.
Yet that is the message the DSA advocates are running on: more government control over such programs and the means of production. Their disingenuous message now touts routine civic function like garbage/sanitation service and firefighting as social services which they believe is a kissing cousin example of the newly coined democrat socialism: which is tortuous, leftist nonsense.
The solution is to reinforce immigration law that requires participants to meet criteria that is a condition of their continuing status. Which in the main requires self-sustainment and a demonstrable support net that does not burden nor depend upon the American taxpayer. And to enter the country through the formal process established to manage immigration: with those here illegally, deported.
I’ve taken my sweet time getting to the second half of my article and the republicans. When viewed from any grass roots perspective–keeping in mind that I am a conservative who is an unaffiliated voter in Colorado—which enables me to go hard against radical socialists in the democrat party with the reality of terrible republican candidates in many areas–the republicans can be classed as the Alfred E. Newman, “What, me worry?” party.
The senate is currently in recess but not an official recess because that would allow that Bad Orange Man to do Nazi and fascist stuff like recess appointments which would anger and undermine the senate democrat tactics of stall, delay, deny and block any and all President Trump supported legislation, initiatives and appointments.
Apparently, Senate leader Thune and his band of merry men cannot and will not allow their party leader to do such a brazen act as enabling recess appointments, which would anger Chuck Schumer and the democrats.
Which sets up the problematic mid-term conundrum—for republicans—of the question about how different it would be in the senate if the republicans somehow became the minority?
Because the democrats would certainly not support an official recess where the senate would allow Trump to run amuck with appointments to undermine and circumvent their stalling tactics. Trump is such a fascist he would run amuck if allowed to do so.
Which—among many other factors and circumstances—reminds of a time when the Tea Party exposed the feckless, dirty underbelly of the republican house and senate in a way that made republican voters wonder what benefit was accruing to the party with such feckless, ungrateful politicians in supposed leadership positions?
No, Thune in particular has been bijee, bijee, bijee dodging the gift that landed from the house in the form of the SAVE Act that has consistent support from the American people and is in the no-brainer, at least 80-20 issue category. We’ve been told by Thune that he lacks the votes to pass it in the senate.
However, he has also distorted and dissembled his options to force a talking filibuster which might—albeit—distract the senate and tie up the floor for the foreseeable future. The more sensible option is apparently hand wringing, lamenting the fate of leading the senate, and going on recess again but not a formal recess where that Bad Orange Man would create mischief.
As the inheritor of the McConnel led republican funds oversight, Thune was very busy trying to douse with money to counter the inevitable demise of the John Cornyn re-election debacle, after it was abundantly clear that he was a dead man walking. Some quarters have reported that 15M of 2026 senate election money was spent on what is reported as part of the over 135M spent on the primary and the runoff that Cornyn lost to Ken Paxton. With many pundits believing a huge turning point was when Paxton offered to withdraw if Cornyn helped the senate pass the SAVE ACT.
There has been no stronger repudiation of senate leadership than this statement and defeat by the MAGA base of an entrenched senate incumbent.
Thune has become entangled in a mess of his own creation coming out of the primary season. His approach to rallying the troops did well for the Big Beautiful Bill battle but that arguably stands as the lone big senate achievement of Trump’s first half of his presidency. Meanwhile many in the senate seem to prefer an independent streak that is puzzling in light of democrat stalling tactics across the board on Trump’s agenda.
Which can’t but be pointed out has distracted from what should be a republican senate focused on shoring up their hold on the chamber. But has increasingly been beset by shows of what would normally be thought of as admirable independence on the part of the usual suspects but has played out as a continuation of a demonstration of why the republican party cannot achieve great things on a consistent basis.
Meanwhile the political accounts are being squared away—the find out phase arrived. Senator Bill Cassidy from New Orleans finally received his comeuppance for voting with the demonrats to impeach Trump. Romney is long gone. Thom Tillis is not seeking reelection in recognition that he can’t win. Mitch McConnell is moving on. On the house side constant thorn in republican’s sides Thomas Massie was defeated.
Meanwhile the hardest working republican advocate in America-Scott Presler-made his way to Washington DC to meet with politicians, attend forums and to advocate a strategy for the mid-terms. By some accounts he made a point to visit Senator Thune’s office throughout his trip but was never able to connect.
He did run into John Cornyn and sent him a text to acknowledge their discussion. Cornyn responded with a one-word answer: grifter.
Not to be deterred, Presler traveled to South Dakota to attend a republican outing at which Thune was scheduled to speak. I defer to AFNN South Dakota resident and attendee Stu Cvrk for his report on the matter. But suffice it to say that Presler was not exactly welcomed with open arms and did not come away with the impression that his herculean efforts of the last decade or so on behalf of republicans was appreciated or apparently needed by Senate leader Thune, who did not even deign to recognize or talk to him.
Of course there are stories about everybody in politics, but the bottom-line here is that Thune is dodging accountability on the critical SAVE ACT that has massive, widespread bi-partisan support and he could have had the decency to at least meet with Presler in DC or at the convention.
But he deliberately chose not to and also had pictures posted of Presler at the entrance to the VIP only dinner engagement where Presler-who did not have a ticket until he was given one by someone who paid to get in—was rudely kept out of the affair by an official who was subsequently relieved of his duties because of it.
How about those mid-terms???
