Democracy: Voters decide directly (by referendum) which laws to pass. Though no true democracy of a sovereign nation exists today; it works well for small groups such as clubs or committees.
Republic: Voters elect representatives to decide which laws to pass. USA.
Capitalism: Private wealth is driven by monetary incentives.
Socialism: Personal wealth is limited due to the belief that income equality and government social programs have priority over military activity. France, Sweden, Japan, et. al., enjoy lavish social programs because their taxes aren’t used to staff a vast military complex – they rely on America to protect them. Most Western nations are a combination of Socialism and Capitalism.
Democratic-Socialism: Voters elect representatives to create income equality by unequal taxation.
Communism: Everyone works for the state – no private industry/wealth. Russia, China.
Fascism: A nation whose leader, not answerable to voters, rules by absolute power with ideological beliefs. Hitler.
Dictator: A nation whose leader, not answerable to voters, rules with absolute power sans ideological beliefs. Mussolini.
Emperor/Monarch: A leader, not answerable to voters, rules by birth rights. Saudi Aribia.
Martial Law: The miliary is in total control of civilians.
Police State: Political use of law enforcement agents for total control of civilians.
