Yesterday, I pointed out how the VA’s 2020 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report is crystal clear on surveilling veterans under the cover of suicide prevention. You should see a spike in your blood pressure when you begin to study the chart on Page 33. Communists don’t hide their intention. Patriots, in our naivety, simply fail to take them at their word.
I also showed you the VA’s Circle of Health—Whole Life and how you are at the center of this dubious plan to undo you, permanently. Now, don’t misunderstand, the majority of the self-care principles are indeed beneficial, but the plan works up to a nefarious end. You are at the hub of the circle, surrounded by the words “mindful” and “awareness.” You need to be mindful of how you come across to others—that doesn’t necessarily mean any changes are required on your part—you’re just observing and adjusting who you are and who you strive to be. You also need to be aware how each aspect of your life affects you for better or worse. I’d add that your situational awareness needs to be finely tuned or the VA could lead you deeper into any post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms or suicidal thoughts.
Immediately surrounding you are eight overlapping circles representing various aspects of your life, which, in balance, can aid your health, or lacking, can hamper your physical and/or mental recovery from the effects of war—or being thrust into a dystopian society. At zero-hundred, is Moving the Body for energy and flexibility (but not strength?). Nobody can argue that even if you hate PT, you like how you feel afterward. The 0100 position is reserved for Surroundings, physical and emotional. Sure, clean and organize your “office.” It brings a sense of calm and command to operate in a visually pleasing or at least ordered home, vehicle, and workspace.
At 0300 is Personal Development, both in striving to be a better human, Christian, husband, father, and in relation to work, advancing your knowledge and skills. At 0500 the VA Circle of Health addresses Food & Drink for fuel and nourishment. My guess is they recommend more lean proteins, healthy fats, and lots of fruits and vegetables, and less Rip Its and Doritos. At 0600 is the Recharge circle, including sleep and refreshing. I read that as, if you can’t sleep, at least shower, do laundry, and lay in supplies, and see if that gets you through.
At 0700 we start reaching beyond the self to Family, Friends & Co-workers, and striving to maintain relationships with those who don’t get it, and certainly don’t get the military sense of humor. Whether they love us, like us, or simply have to work alongside us, it behooves us to reintegrate into society, even in small and subtle ways. Then at 0900, we step beyond self and others into the realm of Spirit & Soul. Now, the VA cannot discriminate against anyone’s religion or lack thereof. This could mean reading your bible, attending church services, and becoming part of your church community as God intended. It could also mean practicing Satanism and mastering the dark arts.
It gets worse at the 1100 position. Using the Power of the Mind in relaxing and healing—what could possibly be wrong with that? Despite movements to get meditation applied in schoolrooms, the workplace, and healthcare facilities, it is not the panacea it’s touted to be. First, studies proving its physical health benefits are numerous, but one should always check who conducted the study and which entity provided the funding. Other studies show no improvement on either mental outlook or physicality. Worse, it’s estimated that conditions in approximately 8 percent of those who meditate will deteriorate, especially if depressed, anxious, or oh, I don’t know, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder maybe.
Meditation proponents say that such studies don’t account for different types of meditation and instruction. They imply that guided meditations that scan each area of the body or that take the person to a pleasant place in their mind work better for some people. The bible recommends meditating on God’s word, His laws, or anything that is good. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 KJV
The concept of allowing memories and thoughts to bubble up in one’s mind in an unguided meditation and then allowing those thoughts to pass like clouds overhead on the path toward emptying your mind is where problems arise. Nature abhors a vacuum and whether the mind is then open to negative or positive forces is a question. If you do meditate, don’t go directly to your phone or laptop screen. That’s just asking for trouble. Think digital Ouija Board. You’re hooked into the VA and you must think about the forces that are controlling the algorithms that control what you see? It would be quite easy for a veteran to be overwhelmed with negative thoughts, memories, and emotions. Why would the VA recommend, without caveat, a practice that could harm even one veteran, never mind up to 8 percent of us.
Tomorrow the potential pitfalls of meditation and the application of virtual reality in the treatment of PTSD gets deeper and darker. This is not to say that much of the information the VA offers can’t be helpful. I never live two days the same, so don’t look to me to push habits onto you, but aim to do whatever you can to take care of yourself. Every single veteran is needed in the fight to save Western Civilization. No pressure, or anything. Just saying.
