Biden Repeats the Mistakes of Lyndon Johnson

Biden refused to have NATO provide MIG 29 Planes to Ukraine because this would provoke Russia and escalate the war to include the USA.

Joey must have forgotten that during the Vietnam War, the Soviet Union, dominated by Russia, supplied military weapons to North Vietnam to kill American soldiers and marines, and shoot down American pilots.

Starting in 1964 Russia provided aircraft, radar, artillery, air defense systems, small arms, ammunition, food, and medical supplies. Further, thousands of Soviet personnel served mostly air defenses officers, advisers, and sometimes as combatants.

Russia provided the  50 caliber anti-aircraft weapon used to shoot down helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, and the AK47 rifle. China also provided similar weapons.

North Vietnam received over 90% of the military aid from Russia and China at the Haiphong port. Yet Lyndon Johnson refused to bomb and mine the harbor for fear of provoking the Soviet Union. Haiphong, and nine other ports, was finally mined by President Nixon in spring 1972. This put Haiphong out of commission for about one year.

The Russians supplied military weapons to North Vietnam to kill Americans. They did not worry that this would provoke the USA. They knew that Lyndon Johnson would not bomb and mine Haiphong and the other ports because Johnson did not do it from 1964 to 1968. Nixon inherited a mess, and moved to reduce American involvement, but still mined Haiphong and other ports in 1972.

Russia knows that Joey will not supply or allow NATO to supply aircraft needed by the Ukrainians because Joey announces his plans to the world by reading the teleprompter.

President Reagan provided military weapons, specifically Stinger missiles, to the Afghan rebels fighting the Soviets after the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 during Jimmy Carter’s administration. The Afghan rebels defeated the Soviets with the help of the USA.

Russian invades when the USA has a weak president. Georgia in 2008 when Bush was mired in nation-building in Iraq and Afghanistan, Crimea with Obama-Biden in 2014, and Ukraine with Biden-Harris in 2022.

I do not advocate that the US send troops to Ukraine. But the US should have pushed for NATO to supply aircraft to Ukraine. Russia never hesitated to supply weapons to our enemies, and never worried that it would provoke us.
