In response to questions about the vaccine mandate, Dr. Fauci, our intrepid pandemic guardian, says that we need to put our personal freedoms on hold for a bit – for the greater good. Um, no! That’s not how our freedoms work. From my reading of the Declaration of Independence, our freedoms are granted by God. In the relative ranking of deities, I’m guessing most people would put Two-Mask Fauci a few levels down from the top. The government didn’t give us our freedom and it can’t take it away. It can oppress those freedoms with brute force – and that is what Fauci is advocating.
But unfortunately, Fauci isn’t the only government functionary that thinks he has the authority to make such rulings. Numerous governors, mayors, and city councils have also curtailed our freedoms. Their lockdowns and social distancing rules undermined our property rights, our freedom of assembly, and our freedom of expression. The “my body, my choice” folks have decided that it’s not our choice except when it pertains to the killing of unborn children. But it is all for the “greater good.”
Even the Supreme Court, our so-called guardians of our republic, got in on the act. When the CDC cancelled our property rights through its eviction moratorium, the court held that the moratorium was unconstitutional – but they’d let it stand for a little while – for the greater good. They decided they had the authority to grant a waiver to the Constitution. That the thinking of public officials on our freedoms is so flawed is truly disturbing.
These officials seem to have all forgotten that America is a country of self-governance. They work for us. We have even given them detailed instructions on how they (as our employees) are to conduct themselves – it called the Constitution. It tells them what they are allowed to do, and more importantly, what they are prohibited from doing. In fact, per the Bill of Rights, the government is expressly prohibited from interfering in the free exercise of religion, abridging freedom of speech, or interfering in the right to peacefully assemble.
The Bill of Rights also says we have a right to be secure in our persons, houses, papers and effects. Unless Roe v. Wade is overturned, it also means we have a right to privacy and to make decisions about our body – so stick your vaccine mandate Biden!
The Bill of Rights was specifically written to protect our individual (not collective) rights. In our system of governance, individuals are to be protected from infringements to our rights by a majority – the mob. Individual rights can only be challenged via due process – and don’t try to tell me that the opinion of Dr. “Gain of Function” Fauci represents due process.
The reality is that no government authority, claiming to represent the needs of the mob, has the authority to restrict our freedoms.
- Not politicians
- Not Justices
- Not law enforcement
- Not bureaucrats with a god complex
There is no pandemic exception to the Bill of Rights – not even for the “common good.” But apparently, Fauci and his fellow travelers must have been out sick the day the Constitution was taught in school.
If we allow this nonsense to stand, all sorts of mischief will become possible. Is there any doubt that the left would?
- Restrict freedom of speech to prevent hate speech – with themselves defining what that is
- Cancel our right to assemble during times of political protest
- Restrict our right to bear arms during periods of elevated crime
Just two years ago, these scenarios would have been unthinkable. But after the pandemic response we’ve seen, it is entirely plausible. And it would all be done for the “greater good.”
Unfortunately, our legal systems have become hopelessly corrupted. We can’t count on the Department of Justice, or even the Supreme Court, to protect our God given rights. We have to fight for those rights ourself. We can join that fight through elections, and also through our state governments. Article V gives states the power to amend the Constitution to fight against government overreach.
It’s time that Fauci, Kavanaugh, Biden, and a few thousand other dictator wannabes stopped for a moment and listened to us. They work for us – now knock it off. Listen now, or we’ll be speaking a bit louder in the mid-terms in November.

Thanks JG,
If we the patriots don’t get this straightened out, it’s just gonna get worse… I’m still hopeful about 3 November>forward getting fixed. But I like your point, there’s no temporary suspension of our rights for anything!🇺🇸👺
Thank you sir.

I’m afraid that it is more than our legal systems have become hopelessly corrupted. It is our entire system with the legal system being the supposed last resort. We are done.
“For the greater good.” Those are the scariest four words I can think of.
Whenever someone uses those words, watch out. They always seem to leave out how whatever it is, is greater. And those who use those words, the most, tend to name their legislation the opposite of what the legislation really stands for, “for the greater good”, and all that.
Great article!
