One of the more bizarre and disturbing aspects of the Obama administration is this idea that it was “scandal free,” coupled with the unsavory and odd reaction to the malfeasance by the administration that saw many liberal, civil rights advocates celebrate because the action was focused on their perceived enemies-whether real or imagined: somewhat of a new and disturbing trend in American politics.
Our government was used as a weapon by a sitting president to go after enemies akin to any banana public derided by those same pundits and the LSMBTG* in an unprecedented celebration that if not checked and held responsible may signal the end of our open society as we know it.
The remarkable thing about it was the way Obama himself treated the press-but only those deemed unfriendly or uncooperative. Trump obviously similarly called out fake news and derided the coverage of much of the LSMBTG-but the fawning, incurious press coverage Obama received was way over the top in comparison to the united front adopted against the Bad Orange Man.
Compare the patently incurious LSMBTG lack of coverage on the two dozen or so Obama scandals I’ve covered in this and the Globalist Folly series, but more importantly leading up to the election of 2008, with some half dozen or more concerning and important-but surprisingly unresolved issues that never seemed to be clarified-with how they went after Trump like a pack of jackals smelling blood. This Breitbart article outlines a dozen or so instances where Obama and his administration went after the press in a way that makes the Bad Orange Man attacks seem like kindergarten spats.
Obama spun a particular venom against Fox News, going as far as not recognizing nor inviting Fox to White House press events, as they were deemed a “research arm” of the republican party. Interesting that those few news organizations involved in research and calling out Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) lies that he told non-stop for nearly five years became “enemies of the state,” or more appropriately enemies of the Obama administration.

11. Iran deal “echo chamber.” The Obama administration created “fake news” to support the Iran deal, setting up what it later boasted was an “echo chamber” of “experts” who would comment in the media to support the White House narrative on the negotiations. Meanwhile, key details were hidden from the public. Through it all, President Obama regarded himself as a champion of press freedom, having run the “most transparent administration ever.”
But the larger point I want to get to is how Obama’s leadership team-led by WH National Security Advisor (WH NSA) Susan Rice-organized around a loose set of principles and objectives built into themes that radiated out from Pennsylvania Avenue to be championed by activists-both within, and outside of the administration-grew from a loosely organized group of influencers into an increasingly tight knit band-that I have named the Dona’Linsky Regime Change Band. Jokers gonna joke, playa’s gonna play and community organizer’s gonna organize.
The bottom-line up front: Obama knew about these matters-his silent hand is all over this like the hand that tossed the hay up in the air that seems to have sprung from nowhere, like magic. WH NSA Susan Rice led, aided and abetted the effort-and as we shall see, the heavy lifting or big pieces and parts of it were lent legitimacy and credibility-credulity-through leadership by the NSC, out of the WH.
As an aside, Obama’Linsky-who I’ve upgraded based on these details and facts to the “Teflon-Don’aLinsky” in honor of how nothing will stick to him-hence the reason Clapper’s “Nuremburg Defense” is a Joe Biden “big flipping deal”-but the only one who seems to have become acutely aware of the full ramifications of a Trump presidency-late in the game-was Susan Rice, Obama’s “by the book, girl Friday.”
When push came to shove-who got tread marks on them over Bergdahl? Not Obama, who hosted that ridiculous “family reunion theme” photo-op at the WH. Benghazi? Who went under the bus for the administration-it wasn’t Obama, HRC, Panetta or the military? Her loyalty to Obama absolutely cost her the opportunity of what would have been the pinnacle of her career for a political, diplomat trained and educated professional, as Secretary of State Susan Rice: let me check the sympathy meter-nope, not even a needle quiver!
When you consider folks like bolt-neck John Kerry and illegal email server spewing classified information lying HRC-we probably could have done much worse than Rice: just consider how her former deputy Antony Blinken is doing so far (yikes and oh, my-one former Rice Deputy is messing up bigly on foreign policy for all to see, the other-Avril Haines-is busy making sure the ODNI is working on gender and diversity issues.) At least Rice is tough, willing to do what is needed and as foul mouthed as necessary.
And who is now the loyal soldier who has been brought back into the WH to play her mouse-like, incognito, behind the scenes silent, but deep efforts to stay the course providing a steady behind the scenes hand on the 3d Obama term?
Then there is James Comey. The coincidence of the Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting, Comey staffing within the FBI the Clinton email charge dismissal before Lynch’s recusal-before any HRC interviews were even conducted-usurping DOJ authority to clear HRC the day that Obama joined her on the campaign trail-delays in getting the Weiner laptop-delays in producing the IC Investigative Referral to the FBI-Comey’s subsequent testimony that he did not recall the IC Investigative Referral (“not memorable to me,”) there were just too many coincidences to name, notwithstanding our government is terrible at this type of centrally controlled execution “stuff.”
This was not the first Comey big drama incident and considering what followed he was only getting warmed up. The 2004 Bush administration reauthorization battle over the NSA surveillance program-Stellar Wind-is instructive in assessing Comey’s tendency to present as the last honest man in Washington. With Attorney General (AG) John Ashcroft undergoing gall bladder surgery, Deputy Attorney General Comey had-unbeknownst to his boss President Bush-maneuvered to be named acting AG until Ashcroft returned to full capacity. Also unbeknownst was the fact that Comey and others in Justice had decided that Stellar Wind was illegal, a finding the WH found out about some five days before the expiration of the authorization. Comey would later make a dramatic appearance before the Senate Judicial Committee organized by Chuck Schumer and Preet Bharara in which he described how he had saved the day in preventing the WH from abusing the sick and incapacitated Ashcroft from being bullied into overriding Comey to reauthorize the program. The inconvenient truth as President Bush stated in his memoirs is that he would never have sent WH representatives (Andrew Card and Alberto Gonzalez) to see Ashcroft had the President of the United States been informed that Comey had assumed the duties of the AG: quite the dramatic event and right up Comey’s alley to have played a role as the white knight in this incident.
The problem is the potential blurring of the lines that can occur between statecraft-the planning, coordination and execution of America’s foreign policy-informed by the IC, managed largely by the State Department, with oversight by congress, and the political activity of the administration.
That line was never so blurred as happened during the Obama administration.
My next 5000 words could flow by in nauseating (but fascinating😊) detail to attempt to explain the problems, pitfalls and potential ramifications of blurring the lines between America’s foreign policy objectives and US politics (internal and external.) Fortunately for dear reader the textbook example of the problem is described in detail by the investigative work in this great article by Paul Sperry.
The bottom-line up front is how democrat political operatives in, out, and around the Obama administration-starting in January 2013-schemed and colluded and rabble roused and chased Putin’s guy-Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovich-duly elected by the people of Ukraine in an election that got the “blue checkmark” of approval from the US government-out of office in favor of a more malleable-and less Putin supporting-president.
It was an Obama administration effort run and sanctioned by the WH NSA Susan Rice led NSC, State (State Department), and democrat operatives, who conspired against a Putin ally in an action that is likely to blame for everything going on in Ukraine today: the short term for the action is “regime change.”
Sperry explains how democrat operatives, lower level NSC assignees-Brennan plant CIA’s Eric Ciaramello, State Department personnel-like Victoria Nuland and Jake Sullivan-and supporters-in particular-HRC henchman such as Syd “the snake” Blumenthal-he who Obama dictated shall not be employed by HRC’s State-and Cody Shearer, as well as Glenn Simpson-the Fusion GPS folks, HRC and DNC lawyers at Perkin’s Coie (Elias, Sussman-usual suspects) as well as Debbie Wasamanschnitz and some other DNC operatives from Ukraine such as Alexandra Chalupa (she is an American citizen)-who informally advised the DNC and State Department prior to this big effort, and also engaged the Washington based Ukraine embassy staff, there was our Ukrainian Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt playing a key role as the man on the scene, who all worked in concert to get rid of President Yanukovych and install an anti-Russian leader in his place.
Putin was not amused that America took out the duly elected leader of Ukraine-using our state department and ambassador as the forward execution elements. If you absorb all the things Sperry describes that our government did in Ukraine that resulted in the ouster of Yanukovich, it falls under the classic definition of a coup d’état: regime change.
Not to test dear reader, but is there a name that is conspicuously absent from my above run-on sentence that listed most of the principle’s out of Sperry’s piece? Need a hint? Bergdahl and Benghazi!
Make no mistake about it-this effort was run by Obama’s WH NSA Susan Rice and underlings. Many of the meetings with the Ukraine Embassy and the key energizer bunny-Chalupa-and other DNC operatives-took place in the WH and were hosted by the aforementioned Ukraine team starring Ciaramella, while Nuland in particular was active as State’s point person.
In America at the time-if you recall-all we heard about were the bad things about Yanukovych and his spending hundreds of millions on his Ukraine palace, exotic animals for the grounds like a fancy zoo, while people starved and marched in the streets against him, etc. It was a whole of government and LSMBTG dry run by the Obama administration for what was to come.
This wouldn’t have much to do with my premise of our nifty fifty IC leaders mentoring subordinates in their image who have-let’s just call it a “loose” interpretation of their oath of office and responsibilities-if this is all they did: although today we can see the ramifications playing out for being guilty of trifling with Putin while an amateur in global trifling.
And not to backtrack, but Putin watched as we floundered over policy during the Arab Spring-an effort where feckless American leadership eventually saw Egypt morph into that horrible hand wringing outcome of a Military dictatorship-the Syrian WMD Red Line was not exactly a Kissinger blueprint diplomatic success, where we handed an entry to legitimacy for Russia to re-enter the Middle East as a “deal maker”-“we” sponsored and encouraged an effort by leading from behind that resulted in Libya becoming the wild west (to this day,)-the reemergence of the ISIS Caliphate was another low light highlighting just how inept our foreign policy efforts were during this time.
But this was in his backyard on a key flank facing NATO and there were already talks about the potential for Ukraine to-if not join NATO-participate in the Partnership for Peace effort that had expanded to several dozen non-NATO signatories. Ukraine was also a key piece of Putin’s plans for his energy strategy-particularly his Arctic Liquid Natural Gas Project investment that he was already ~several billion dollars along with and pot committed.
This band of Obama administration and HRC-DNC acolytes-call them the Dona’Linsky Regime Change Band-arguably led by the Obama WH NSA and NSC but certainly the state department-didn’t stop here: when you have a band together, what you do is play! Having successfully ousted Yanukovych, they-but particularly the energetic Chalupa and the all too willing team HRC, started to hear rumors about hated political operative and attorney Paul Manafort-who was friendly and had known DJT for a long time-lived in Trump Tower-emerging as somewhat of an advisor as the Trump campaign team was girding for battle.
Chalupa in particular was still bothered by Manafort-who was instrumental in the McCain campaign, but soon bigger fish and better money came by him working in Ukraine supporting Yanukovych and some of the Oligarchs surrounding him. He had already been investigated by the FBI and dismissed for working some shady foreign deals, but no charges came from it.
Thus started the reunion tour for the band that had ousted Yanukovych, this time focused on Manafort and indirectly on Trump-but soon pretty much directly on Trump as the bigger target.
Since the bulk of the band was formed under the HRC banner, it should not surprise anyone that this group just continued their efforts looking to help HRC. What is unusual is the Obama administration involvement in the effort and the patently incurious LSMBTG total oblivion to it happening.
Chalupa in particular was a frequent and vocal attendee to NSC meetings involving Ukraine, which increasingly provided a forum to vent her concerns about Manafort. Another influencer in this regard was Nuland, based on her interactions with Christopher Steele of the infamous dossier and Pee Pee Hoax fame. From Sperry’s article:
Another influential adviser at the time was former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, who provided Nuland with written reports on the Ukrainian crisis and Russia that echoed Chalupa’s warnings. Nuland treated them as classified intelligence, and between the spring of 2014 and early 2016, she received some 120 reports on Ukraine and Russia from Steele.
One might wonder-how did Steele enter this picture and become a band member with some of these others? The above article walks through his relationship with Glenn Simpson (Fusion GPS) and details how Steele came to the attention of Obama officials looking to find out how the US lost out in the bid for the FIFA World Cup soccer championship venue: due to Putin bribes.
The indefatigable Ms. Chalupa and the busy and energetic Obama NSC coordination efforts led by Ciaramella colluded with Ukrainian and FBI officials to go after Manafort and simultaneously turn to smearing Trump. From Sperry’s article:
On Jan. 12, 2016 – almost a month before the first GOP primary – Chalupa told top DNC official Lindsey Reynolds she was seeing strong indications that Putin was trying to steal the 2016 election for Trump. Emails also show that she promised to lead an effort to expose Manafort – whom Trump would not officially hire as his campaign chairman until May – and link him and Trump to the Russian government. That same day, Chalupa visited the White House.
Later that month the FBI-prodded and goaded by Chalupa and bolstered by WH NSC meetings run by Ciaramella-also aided by Ukraine Embassy Officials and their National Anti-Corruption Bureau Unit (NABU)-would reopen the investigation-that had been closed without any referrals or charges-on Paul Manafort: at this point he was the proverbial grand jury “ham sandwich.”
The only one in this drama who would have been more interested in knowing that Manafort was under investigation-besides Chalupa-since the Obama administration NSC had been instrumental in making it happen, having driven it to fruition-was candidate Trump.
Is it possible Obama, Biden, Chief of Staff Denis McDonough-former NSA, or WH NSA Rice were unaware of these actions-coordinated through WH meetings-taken against Manafort that also began the effort to undermine a hated political candidate and “birther” who had increasingly been on Obama’s mind?
