Imagine the following scene in a made for TV miniseries: A man has quit his job at a nationally popular TV news show. There are rumors that he quit because he had an “inappropriate” relationship with the beautiful female star of the show. Now he has been coaxed into doing an interview because it appears that the female star had such relationships with several other men employed by the show. The star has been fired due to the rumors, because the men were all younger and far less powerful than her. Is that female equality?
The man being interviewed is now trying to explain what happened and why he quit. As it turns out, the relationship he engaged in was at first mainly harmless flirting and totally consensual. The young man was flattered and aroused by the star’s attention. His interviewer asked him if they ever “crossed the line”. The young man hesitates, and then reveals that at one point he entered her dressing room to give her some information and they started kissing and then he “performed oral sex on her”. He claims that he “did not know how not to do it”. Once that was done, he was apparently hooked, and he continued to helplessly perform oral sex and engage in other sexual liaisons with the star on a regular basis. Their trysts were apparently less than discreet, and possibly noisy, because he noticed that other employees were treating him differently and talking about him behind his back. Eventually rediscovering a sense of ethics and some sense of his own dignity, he rejected the role of male concubine and quit the show. The male interviewer praises him for his courage and thanks him profusely for his willingness to share his story of being exploited by a powerful woman.
Our scenario above is not an exact retelling of the scene from “The Morning Show”, a series which stars Jennifer Anniston. The huge difference is that the “victim” and interviewer in the show were female, but the scenario is close enough to frame the primary question: If liberals are so convinced that female sexuality is as powerful as male sexuality, why are they so quick to portray women as having no defense in face of male desire?
Do they really think a man can compel oral sex from a woman with a single kiss? A man’s kiss is so powerful that she will helplessly and immediately fall to her knees in front of him, not knowing how not to do it? Much as that scenario might provide wish fulfillment to adolescent males all over the world, adult males understand it is ridiculous to the point of being hilarious. Seriously, any man who claimed in front of other men to have that power would be laughed out of the room, followed by various speculations about how much he was paying the woman over whom he was claiming to have that control.
Frankly, portraying women as being that weak and controllable is a rank insult. If any conservative presented that as a serious issue, they would be laughed out of the public square. Imagine Tucker Carlson airing a special report on the duty of men not to kiss women too well. Men must avoid kissing women so ardently as to have to physically restrain them from helplessly attacking men’s zippers under the influence of such passion and sexual dominance. It would be game over for Tucker and justifiably so. Instead, “The Morning Show” portrays a woman claiming that is what happened to her as having “courage” for reporting it.
Hmmm… courage? Is that what passes for courage in the minds of liberal Americans these days? There was time when a story like this with a male as the victim would have been viewed as a simple and straight forward case of a randy guy getting lucky. The guy would likely have laughed about it over a drink with his best friends after they first accused him of lying. When they realized he was serious, they would have wanted details, and then they would have expressed their amazement/envy.
A couple of his buddies might have opined that she was a “cougar” and too old for them, and immediately been called out as liars or wimps. At no point would the man be made to feel like a helpless victim. At no point would he begin to regret the liaison. At no point would he fall into depression and agree to an interview in which he tried to paint himself as a victim of a rapacious woman.
Doing that would make him feel like a fool and a spineless coward who would not take ownership of his own desire. In the history of humanity, no man has ever told his friends that he performed oral sex on a woman because he “did not know how not to do it.” If it ever does happen, we will know about it because it will be the funniest joke ever told, and every man in the world will know the name of the guy who tried to use that as an excuse.
This scenario reveals starkly a rampant schizophrenia present in modern liberalism’s portrayal of women. While showing them as hard-core action figures in movies and TV shows and demanding in the public sphere that women be force fed into jobs that were once exclusively male (e.g., cops, firefighters, Infantry Soldiers) despite abundant evidence that they cannot meet the physical requirements, the liberal media then consistently and blatantly portray women as helpless victims of men. In their eyes, women cannot stand up to men in romantic relationships, in business negotiations, or in political combat.
They need liberal men and women wielding government power to ride in on a white horse and fight off the toxically masculine conservative men waiting to kiss them into sexual and moral subservience. Women will NEVER overcome their long-time disadvantages to men in our society if they do not take ownership of their sexuality and life decisions along with the consequences of those decisions.
Children blame others for their own decisions, and to a certain extent that makes sense. After all, children are told what to do, when to do it, and are coerced by parents and other adults when they try to disobey. Adult American women do not have that excuse, and they should thank Judeo-Christian morality for that. It is what gives them the freedom to run their own lives in a way that is still denied to most women on this planet.
However, it also requires that they take responsibility for their decisions and accept logical consequences without trying to blame men, society, or some physical compulsion for their errors. If women were truly that irresponsible and incapable of managing themselves, then the societies who treat them that way would be justified, but they are obviously not.
Of course, conservatives know that women deserve to be treated as the free American adults they are, but conservatives also know such treatment includes holding them equally responsible and accountable for their mistakes. Ergo, if a woman told the same tale as the man in the first paragraph, she should be accorded the same reaction: not lauded as a hero, or scorned as a tramp, but respected for eventually coming to her senses and leaving an unethical and unhealthy situation.
That is the extent of it, lesson learned. For her to come back after the fact and paint herself as a victim who had no control over herself due to male dominance, female weakness, and cultural expectations, is an insult to herself and every American woman. Americans instinctively understand that any man who tried to justify his promiscuous behavior so fatuously is a sleazy, laughable liar. Women should look forward to the day when they are accorded the same respect by the liberal wing of our country’s population.
