Defense One just printed an admission by the Navy Secretary which warns if the defense industry can’t boost production, arming both Ukraine and the US may become “challenging.” Gosh, who would have ever thought that? Could it be OSD, the JCS, and the individual Commands were perhaps more focused on pushing DEI on the troops, getting them to use acceptable gender references, and watching Pelosi (thank goodness she’s history) wrap herself in the Ukraine flag and fawn over Zelinski?

Perhaps they should have been more focused on DIE because that’s what will happen without a plan. Good God, what has happened to the military? They seem to have become as demented as our President. I asked a person a few weeks ago, “How much do we continue to give Ukraine?” The answer, “Whatever it takes.” And there you have it, the idiocy runs deep within us.

Since The Three Stooges (Biden, Austin, and Milley) are in charge of our military has “Duty, Honor, Country” given way to “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion”? There are some people who will not like this short commentary. Retiring in 1995, there are people that would say I’m out-of-touch with today’s military. That I am not appreciative nor respectful enough of today’s military leadership. And they are probably right. But with what I’ve observed, I wonder if our military has the leadership it needs for today’s moments in history.

For it’s leadership, not bureaucratic wokeism, that wins wars. And the final question must be, can our folks shoot, fly, navigate—on target, on time, when called? But instead, the President issues an Executive Order creating “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” offices. White hate, anti-capitalism, and Critical Race Theory are taught with approval from the highest offices in government.

I was fortunate in my 25 years of active duty to have witnessed people do their jobs under significant stress and with less than perfect material support. Unit pride and unit cohesion drove them. Not letting the person next to you down. But based on what I reading, are current leaders simply more interested in political wokeness? In “ribbons and tin”? Americans are proud of, and trust, our military. But if they feel the military is being used as a tool for social engineering, that trust may well erode. And sadly, polls show it has.

THE mission of our military is to fight and win. And when bullets fly, no one gives a damn about your pronouns, race, or creed. We expect these young men and women to bear the curse of war and stand the wall. They need leaders who stand with them. Where are the generals such as Krulak, Fogleman, and Singlaub today? Who has the courage to speak truth to power? Where are the biblical Davids?
