It’s no surprise that the Biden administration’s misguided policies continue to baffle and bewilder us. In a shocking display of ignorance masquerading as concern for safety, the administration seems to believe that removing educational programs from government schools will somehow make us all safer. Yes, you read that right – they’re trying to sell us the idea that less education equals more safety. If this doesn’t make your blood boil, I don’t know what will.
Last year, the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was pushed through, touted as a beacon of bipartisan agreement. But let’s not be fooled by its name – the devil is in the details. One of its provisions involves amending the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which ostensibly aims to prevent federal funds from reaching programs that provide dangerous weapon training. Admirable, you might think. But in their infinite wisdom, the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has decided that this includes shooting sports programs in government schools.
That’s right, folks. The Biden administration believes that kids participating in trap and skeet teams, the National Archery in the Schools program (NASP), and hunter education are somehow being groomed into dangerous weapon-wielding individuals. Because obviously, the best way to ensure safety is to keep our young generation blissfully ignorant about responsible firearm use, archery skills, and hunting ethics.
Government schools across the nation are being strong-armed into ditching these valuable programs if they want to keep receiving federal funding through ESEA. It’s a classic case of carrot-and-stick, except this time the carrot is dangling in front of the school’s financial survival. Many institutions, starved for funding and resources, are left with no choice but to capitulate. And thus, our future leaders are deprived of valuable educational experiences that teach them responsibility, discipline, and outdoor skills.
The twisted logic behind this move is hard to fathom. Somehow, the Biden administration believes that keeping kids in the dark about guns and outdoor activities will keep us all safe. They conveniently ignore the fact that education is the cornerstone of responsible citizenship. Shooting sports teach respect for firearms, archery programs foster focus and precision, and hunter education instills ethics and a deeper connection to the environment. By yanking these programs away, the administration is not fostering safety – it’s cultivating ignorance.
So, congratulations, Biden administration. You’ve managed to outdo yourself once again, trading education for an illusion of safety in government schools. The long-term repercussions of this shortsighted decision will undoubtedly haunt us for generations. But hey, at least you can pat yourselves on the back for erasing educational opportunities and substituting them with an empty promise of security. It’s almost impressive how wrong you can get things when you let ideology cloud common sense. It’s time we stop referring to them as “public schools” and instead call them what they truly are: government schools, reflecting the ever-increasing control of our children’s education by bureaucrats who seem to know what’s best for us better than we do.
