Parody As a Weapon Part CVI; You can’t hurry votes. You just have to wait. Votes don’t come easy- they’re a game of give and take.
Last week, in Part CV, we used a bar of gold as we knocked down the low hanging fruit of democrat Senator of New Jersey Robert Menendez. This week, we will try to avoid panic as we respond with alarm to the actions of Jamaal Bowman on September 30 in the U.S. Capitol complex.
At the end of September, the beltway media was focused heavily on the melodrama of the pending government shutdown due to the failure of Congress and the administration to agree on budget bills. On Saturday, September 30, as democrats were trying to engineer a delay over a vote on a continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown for about six weeks or so, a fire alarm was activated from the Cannon Office Building in the Capitol complex.
Following an evacuation and inspection by Capitol Police and Emergency Medical Services (and some of the delay democrats sought), it was determined to be a false alarm. A review of the security footage revealed that the alarm had been deliberately pulled by Jamaal Bowman.
Bowman is the 47 year old congressional representative from the 16th District in New York. The squad member, who was born on April Fool’s Day, was initially elected in 2020 after defeating 16 term incumbent Eliot Engel in the democrat primary, and winning in the general election with no republican challenger and 84% of the vote against his Conservative Party challenger. Bowman, who, like Jill Biden, has a doctorate in educational leadership, and served as a school principal prior to becoming an activist politician.
Having been filmed in the act, Bowman did not deny pulling the alarm, but rather offered the lame excuse that he mistakenly believed that pulling a marked fire alarm would somehow result in opening a door marked as an alarmed emergency exit.
Many people were not buying Bowman’s explanation. There were discussions that Bowman should be expelled and prosecuted like for the same charges that January 6 defendants were accused of for obstructing a congressional proceeding. Others were not as harsh, but still considered the clownish vandal worthy of congressional discipline.
Had Bowman’s postgraduate degrees actually been a form of documentation of wit, given what followed in the days again in the halls of Congress, he could have claimed he pulled the fire alarm as he recognized that the republican caucus would self-immolate like a communist-sympathizing Vietnamese Buddhist monk in Saigon in the early 1960s.
Also on fire in the 1960s were The Supremes, although only metaphorically (Things literally on fire in the 1960s include the Watts section of Los Angeles, and large portions of Newark, New Jersey and Detroit). Recording for Motown studios in their native Detroit, throughout that decade and into the 1970s, including a #1 on the pop charts single entitled “Stop! In the Name of Love”. I have borrowed the tune of that song and rewritten the lyrics to pay homage to a principal without principle, in a party similarly situated.
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Jamaal Bowman
We’re aware through the video
You weren’t confused about a door
The video confirms the fact
Of your deliberate act
But this time before you duck the blame
Prove that you have no shame
(Jamaal Bowman) Once a school principal
(Jamaal Bowman) Now just a beclowned fool
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Jamaal Bowman
Jamaal Bowman
To gain advantage
In partisan fights
You can’t lock doors
Or turn out all the lights
But is this merely an error
By republicans it would be an act of terror
But democrats can call to arms
And set off false alarms
(Jamaal Bowman) Once a school principal
(Jamaal Bowman) Now a vandalous fool
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Jamaal Bowman
Jamaal Bowman
Capitol Police might not be so patient
Or sympathetic to your situation
The next time you feel so independent
They’ll soon be call you “defendant”
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm
Before you break the law
Stop! Don’t pull the alarm (Jamaal Bowman)
Before you break the law (Jamaal Bowman)
