There’s ongoing concern regarding the dismissals of military personnel who declined to receive an experimental drug, particularly given subsequent information suggesting the drug’s safety and efficacy were not as initially promised.
The absence of acknowledgement or apology for the dismissals raises questions about fair treatment from our US Military. Those who, having since reconsidered, are willing to resume their service and don the uniform again, deserve recognition for their commitment. Reinstating these individuals with 100% back pay and offering promotion opportunities could not only honor their service but also add experienced and trained soldiers back into the military fold, potentially bolstering our forces by approximately 8,000 already trained personnel.
It’s important to note that training these service members, based on 2017 data, incurred substantial costs of approximately $58,000 per individual. Addressing these dismissals could potentially restore trained and skilled personnel to strengthen our military’s readiness and capability and restore some trust that our military surrendered with these poor decisions.
