Albert Einstein Predicted a Political Realignment

In 2008, our lying corrupt institutions convinced us that our virtue and salvation depended on making a fundamental transformation. We were told that America needed to atone for past sins. It convinced us that we needed to repent, so we signed up for a “Thelma and Louise” joyride to Socialjusticeville with Barack Obama and Joe Biden at the helm. We didn’t realize at the time that “fundamental transformation” meant trading in our self-governed republic for a one-party tyranny – though we should have.

The Obama/Biden “fundamental transformation” led to

  • Weaponized government,
  • Skyrocketing crime,
  • National invasion,
  • Social conflict,
  • Increased international violence, and
  • Fiscal irresponsibility.

The joyride couldn’t last forever, and we’re just now starting to realize that it ends with a fiery death at the bottom of a cliff. Yet our grinning fool in the Oval Office mumbles that everything is peachy as he grips the wheel and stomps on the gas pedal.

In the 1950s America was approaching a cliff of a different sort. Senator Joseph McCarthy attempted to use the power of government rather than debate to crush dissenting ideas – such as communism. He led a movement to ostracize, cancel, and even prosecute anyone who appeared even remotely sympathetic to communist arguments – often with little or no evidence. Had his inquisition persisted, it would have ushered in a dark period for our republic. The evil of communism may have been shunned, but at the expense of civil debate – the cornerstone of self-governance. Thankfully, Americans turned away from the character assassinations of McCarthyism (until 1987 when Senator Joe Biden introduced us to “Borking”).

Albert Einstein wrote to his son after the McCarthy saga:

There’s something amazing about America’s democracy, it’s got a gyroscope and just when you think it’s going to go off the cliff, it rights itself.

Is it happening again? Is Donald Trump’s rise in the polls our gyroscope spinning up, as we prepare for another correction?

The last time America faced something like our current crisis was in 1980. The Soviet Union was expanding its empire. The United States had recently been humiliated in Vietnam. Islamic terrorists had achieved nation-state status. The economy was in a shambles, and the future looked more bleak than bright.

President Jimmy Carter told us that our tribulations were because of national malaise. It was his way of saying that the problem was our attitude, not his policies. The implication was that we needed the government to do what we weren’t mature enough, nor smart enough, to do ourselves.

Ronald Reagan offered a different perspective. He told us that we could, and would, solve our problems if the government simply got out of our way. He assured us that we, not the government, were the holders of power in our Constitutional republic. He spoke to us as adults.

The gyroscope spun up, and voters chose the Gipper over the peanut farmer – in a landslide.

As we approach this year’s election things are looking a bit 1980ish.

  • Russia is trying to expand it’s borders,
  • The United States has been humiliated in Afghanistan,
  • Islamic terrorists are using their government power to advance terrorism globally,
  • The U.S. economy is approaching collapse – with $34 trillion dollars of debt,
  • Everyone believes this is not going to end well, and
  • We’re being offered the choice again – government-reliance, or self-reliance.

Compare our choice – as framed by our current candidates.

While delivering a commencement address to Moorehouse College, Joe Biden said that he sees:

A pervasive, overt, and violent ongoing racism in American society.

He then told the predominantly black graduating class:

What is democracy if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot?

It was not a message of hope or empowerment, but of victimhood and dependence. He was telling the graduating class, on perhaps the proudest day of their lives: You’ll never amount to anything, unless I help you. So let’s see some fealty.

In the same week, Donald Trump was speaking at a rally in the Bronx. His message was somewhat different:

It doesn’t matter whether you’re Black, or Brown, or White or whatever the hell color you are, it doesn’t matter. We are all Americans and we’re going to pull together as Americans.

He didn’t offer handouts from the government, nor rage against the other political party. He acknowledged the problems in the attendee’s community, but didn’t promise that the government would fix everything. Rather he offered to work with them – acknowledging that solutions must originate with the community. It was a statement that they have the power to fix their problems – if the government stops standing in their way. He didn’t speak to them as dependent children, but as self-reliant adults.

Compare and contrast the two choices.

Biden: I hold the power and I’ll throw you some handouts in exchange for your loyalty.

Trump: You hold the power and I’ll help you to the extent you allow me.

The more those messages are heard, the more Americans prepare to seize control, using Donald Trump as their helmsman – an instrument of THEIR will.

Perhaps Albert Einstein and Ronald Reagan were both right. When given a clear choice, Americans choose what our founders intended for our Republic – self-reliance and self-determination.

After 12 years of our Obama/Biden joyride (with a 4-year rest-stop in the middle)

  • Parents are retaking their school systems;
  • Victimhood tribes are tearing apart the Democrat coalition;
  • Minorities are reconsidering their voting choices;
  • Corporations are abandoning DEI;
  • Climate change via socialism is exposing itself as a con perpetrated by the collectivists;
  • The movement to reign in government with a convention of states is growing; and
  • Voters are moving towards the only candidate offering closed borders, equal justice under law, support for allies, punishment of international monsters, and getting government out of everyone’s business.

It appears we are preparing to end this joyride by turning the wheel, rather than speeding over the cliff – just as the wise scientist predicted.

  1. John, if you look into the Project Venona intercepts and the MItrokhin Archive smuggled out of the KGB by their own archivist, you’ll find there WAS fire beneath McCarthy’s smoke.

  2. Of course there was. But our system is designed to punish behavior not belief, and evil ideologies can only be defeated by debate, not government force.
