The Houston-based pediatric hospital announced it had stopped offering hormone treatments and trans surgeries for minors after Texas attorney general Ken Paxton issued a legal opinion categorizing such procedures as child abuse. But, as Haim revealed, the hospital continued to perform the procedures for months after it had announced otherwise by leaking redacted information.
Reading this article from Legal Insurrection, I really mourn for the former great state of Colorado. I was stationed at Ft. Carson (Colorado Springs) and it is a beautiful state (Rocky Mountains, Pipe’s Peak). But the locusts from the People’s Democratic Republic of Kalifornia once again destroyed something beautiful. For example.

On Monday, March 10, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review a case that could have blockbuster repercussions.
The case, Chiles v. Salazar, concerns a Colorado licensed professional counselor who wishes to provide services to Colorado youth suffering from gender dysphoria. But Colorado law forbids that counselor, Kaley Chiles, from providing any counseling (i.e. speaking) if it concerns the concept of a young person NOT seeking to affirm their transgender status. For example, if a young person who has transitioned from one sex to another is questioning that decision and approaches Chiles for guidance about potentially detransitioning, she is legally forbidden from providing that guidance.

…The Alliance Defending Freedom, a religious freedom legal nonprofit representing Chiles, celebrated the court’s decision to hear oral arguments in the case.
ADF CEO Kristen Waggoner said in a press release on Monday that she believes state officials have “no business censoring private conversations between clients and counselors.”
“Colorado’s law prohibits what’s best for these children and sends a clear message: the only option for children struggling with these issues is to give them dangerous and experimental drugs and surgery that will make them lifelong patients,” stated Waggoner.
“We are eager to defend Kaley’s First Amendment rights and ensure that government officials may not impose their ideology on private conversations between counselors and clients…”
…A three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 against Chiles last September, upholding an earlier district ruling in favor of Colorado’s therapy ban…

“A growing body of research reveals how critical Chiles’s counseling is, especially for young people. Most minors who experience gender dysphoria become comfortable with their biological sex if they are not affirmed in a transgender identity. Some studies say 98 percent of gender dysphoric children will identify with their biological sex before adulthood…Other nations that initially adopted an ‘affirm only’ approach now caution against it—and, in some cases, ban the practice of affirming young peoples’ gender dysphoria…[But] many counselors won’t take clients struggling with gender dysphoria ‘because any topic but ‘affirming’ can be said to violate’ laws like Colorado’s…Chiles wants to provide that emotional support in an evidence-based manner that aligns with her and her clients’ shared convictions.”
It astonishes me that we are in the 21st Century and are arguing over a fact of life known for centuries. Puberty brings multiple physical changes as children transition to adolescence. Girls’ breasts enlarge, they menstruate and produce eggs. Boys’ voices deepen, they start to ejaculate and produce sperm. This leads to understandable questions on how they fit into the world as they change.
For ages, we simple guided our children through this period. Parents had “The Talk,” with their children, explaining how young men and women mature, and what issues that entails. Counselors, coaches, friends, clergy, etc. would support these messages to help parents raise functioning adults. Then something went haywire.
Liberals in education, medicine and psychiatry began to misguide children into thinking they were “gender non-conforming,” e.g., a woman born into a man’s body. Tell that to a 30-year-old and he falls on the floor laughing at you. An authority figure (e.g., school counselor) says that to a twelve-year-old boy going through a very confusing time of time, it can seriously mentally and emotionally damage them. Especially when the “adult” (sarcasm intended) is telling the child to change their name, take puberty blockers, or wear a chest binder (if a school has money for that, they have far too much money, end of discussion).
I remember reading in the 80s how education was becoming a popular career choice for many young (i.e., stupid) people. They were going into the field not because they wanted to teach, but “that’s where the jobs are.” We now have at least two generations whose minds have been poisoned, and two generations of educrats who believe they, not parents, raise children. A teacher’s union official (I believe an ATF official) said something chilling, “These kids are ours, not the parents.” Seeing how much time school staff spend with children, there is a serious problem.
Hopefully SCOTUS will make the right call (they did agree to hear the appeal) and throw this law onto the ash heap of history. With any luck, the citizens of Colorado will vote out every politician who voted for this law, or other laws with the intent or effect of harming children like this, in the future. Please watch for the results on this case.
