Same Ole Tired Nonsense: Jim Crowe 2.0 Is Lesko Brandon’s Jim Eagle, Regurgitated Nonsense, Same Ole, Same Ole
My 15 May 2021 article Colorado Reaps the Benefit of Woke Election Dogma: All Star Game Will be Fully Attended Thanks to Changed Mask Policy highlighted how rank stupidity and idjiotcy cheated Atlanta out of hosting the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game that included a hometown ceremony in honor of one of Atlanta’s favorite sons, Brave’s Hall of Fame great Hammer’n Henry “Hank” Aaron.
It took the idjiotcy of President Biden, the Reverend Al Sharlatan, election denier Stacy Abrams and National Basketball Association drama queen Lebron James to pull off the ridiculous when all touted how voting laws in Georgia were going to disenfranchise largely black Georgians who are apparently not savvy or smart enough to get identification cards.
Resulting in MLB making the last-minute decision to move the game to Denver, Colorado. Which cheated Atlanta residents out of hosting the MLB All-Star Game, an economic benefit worth an estimated ~100 million dollars and a home tribute to beloved Atlanta Brave Hall of Famer Hank Aaron.
Surprise, shock and amazement followed when Georgia election early-voter turnout increased significantly despite the doom and gloom Jim Crow 2.0 and Jim Eagle continuous dogma from President Biden-who received four Pinocchio’s from the ingratiating Washington Post for his lies.
And also from political hacks like Stacey Abrams, Rev Sharlatan, LB James, Joyless Reid, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the bulk of the LSMBTGA, here, and here. While the Heritage Foundation debunked the propaganda.
From the piece: The polemical taunts are directed toward two of the bill’s provisions, one that extends the state’s decade-old ID requirement to absentee ballots, and another that attempts to prevent campaigns and party activists from trying to corruptly influence voters by providing them with money, gifts, food, and water in polling places.
The critics don’t seem to have actually read the bill or understand that similar provisions already exist in federal law.
My article touched on a number of topics, not the least of which was the-ahem–winky, winky strange and coincidental timing of the Colorado Governor’s lifting of dogmatic and useless mask and six-foot separation requirements which enabled full attendance at the All-Star Game venue at Coors Field in Denver.
This is the original article (as published, no edits.)
Talk about “just in time” logistics, how about timely politics? Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced mid-day 14 May 2021 the end of mask related restrictions, echoing the Biden Administration announcement to the same effect.
This is incredibly fortuitous timing and great news for Colorado and the Denver metropolitan area considering the recently re-venued Major League Baseball All-Star Game: some might opine that it is also damn suspicious!
The economic impact of such a high-profile event has been estimated to be in the realm of ~$100 million dollars. Denver’s Coor’s Field has capacity for just over 50,000 spectators and this decision clears the way for it to be filled to the brim as the accompanying cancellation of occupation restrictions in Governor Polis’ statement made clear.
There is obviously great celebration in Denver and likely relief by Major League Baseball, given that the comparatively small size of Coor’s Field would have significantly trimmed attendance if limited to a percentage of the overall capacity.
The real loser in this announcement is the city of Atlanta, Georgia, and their 525K residents that includes some 226K black residents. Election expert and failed-but not conceded-gubernatorial candidate Ms. Stacie Abrams and her cohort in lies the Rev. Mr. Al Sharlaton, aided and abetted by that other election and social justice defender of everything that does not touch endorsements, the Chinese, or Nike, LB James, are rightly acknowledged as the “cheerleaders” most responsible for the decision to move the game.
Abrams imaginatively played her one note instrument in calling the proposed legislation in question “racist”-I mean it requires people who want to vote to show some form of identification for goodness sakes-in this day and age: the absolute gall! She originally talked about boycott and indicated she could not blame any who would consider it appropriate to do so. However, when things looked like they were getting serious, because, gulp, MLB may call our bluff, she extended and revised her remarks. Including the extraordinary and unprecedented opportunity to change her article to take the edge off her previous insistence that a boycott should take place!
Not to be outdone, President Biden weighed-in with such a panoply of lies that he was awarded four-Pinocchios by the ordinarily friendly Washington Post. That did not deter or prevent the President from repeating his talking points at the time or since.
The President noted the contributions of and by professional athletes in support of these causes. There is no denying the increase in professional sports participation in political and social issues over the past several decades. The problematic question is to what end, considering the communities such actions impact, and trying the patience of often weary fans subjected to such “woke” expressions?
The MLB move from Atlanta represents an estimated loss of 100M in economic impact. Similar previous politically based venue changes include the NBA decision in Charlotte to move the 2017 All Star Game over LGBT issues and bathrooms, and others of interest, but I want to get to the larger point.
Sports is about the numbers. And the numbers have increasingly shown that even die-hard fans and spectators are growing weary of the constant, non-stop in your face “wokeisming” by professional sports.
Many have explained away the “numbers problem” because of COVID. The inconvenient part of it is the numbers started dropping long before anyone ever heard of the Chi-Com flu.
Much of the recent numbers problem started in 2016 when a talented but one-dimensional player with a live arm from San Francisco started kneeling during the National Anthem because, well, in truth his message was incoherent and rambling at the outset. He was injured at the time of his “protest,” bench bound and largely unheralded until people started noticing. His first comments were “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
So, okay, his protest was against the flag as a symbol of our country and the oppression of blacks. That seemed odd in light of his failure to do anything about it up to that point in time. Later-when he had done some fund raising and received some political help and support, it turned out his message was against the police, as evidenced by his cute socks with pigs on them that he had worn as early as August 2016.
Still later he was talking down our country and talking up the benefits of other countries like Cuba that he clearly knew little to nothing about. His message was about black suppression, against our country, against the police and in favor of some Communist Dictatorships. He later added to his reputation as a light thinker when he found racist motives in the killing of Iranian Republican Guards Commander and terrorist-in-chief Qasem Soleimani.
The inevitable result of increased protests was a loss of interest by fans and the typical viewing audience. While it is intuitively obvious to many of us why sports numbers in general are down it is apparently a mystery to many who follow these trends. While others have reported on the ramifications of “wokeisming” for half a decade.
My own teams that I’ve been loyal to for over six decades have opted to be woke and political and if I am an indication of the response, they should be very afraid. I was surprised when the Red Sox opted to honor a Black Liberation Revival Movement “thug” instead of the normal practice of honoring a veteran. Right on cue he was arrested for bravely sucker punching an eighty-year old woman guilty of being a DJT supporter. Just as helpful was news that the aforementioned cheerleader Mr. LB James had taken out a stake in the Sox (which is really neither here nor there, but just another brick in the wall…).
Also somewhat and particularly ironic is when a team called the “Patriots” affords their multi-millionaire dollar earning players the opportunity to make statements by kneeling during the National Anthem.
I think the ultimate irony in sports has been the NFL football games played in London, where many of our genius players stood for God Save the Queen but knelt for the Star Bangled Banner: it does not get any more classic than that.
Many players tout defiance of President Trump as a reason for their disrespect to our national anthem. I would have more respect for them if they cited a dislike of vegetables or Fish ’n Chips or something reasonable and intelligent and stayed in the locker room. Either way I just won’t know.
Looking forward to the MLB All Star Game in Denver (not.)
Irony is dead.
This latest round of revived nonsense over Jim Crow 2.0 is resurrected donkey dung, hysteria laden dogma from half a decade ago. You would think that even a smidgen-a modicum of respect-for their constituents would motivate new thoughts, ideas or tactics from democrat leaders Senator Chuck “lame Richard” Schumer and Hakeem “Chop” Jeffries-one of the most mechanical speakers in congress, whose oratory skills have been rightly compared to a dial-up internet modem (you’ve got a thought.)
But they apparently know their base well enough in that the same old tired and tiresome tactics and propaganda will suffice when the message is never about something good or helpful for our country, but simply tired, worn out political attacks and cliches that serve to undermine their credibility while confirming how bereft of ideas-and originality-the leadership of the democratic party is in today’s political arena dominated by the Bad Orange Man.
It is sad from most views, although glorious and delicious from others when you consider the sharp contrast between a party that is hemorrhaging support on all fronts, while the other party is bristling with energy and new ideas, while busy fighting tired old lawfare efforts and cleaning-up on aisle 13 to undo and set straight just about every bad idea the democrats heartily supported during Biden’s tenure, just about all of which have been exposed as self-inflicted, unnecessary and avoidable.
Regardless of how this latest propaganda drama turns out against the SAVE Act and the notion that showing identification to vote is a radical idea in a country where just about everything that matters today requires an identification, it should not be lost on anybody-but particularly our politicians, that voter ID is a necessary but insufficient remedy to fixing voter fraud in states that use automatic election tabulation machines.
That problem will not be rectified by requiring identification and is the subject of my next article.
