Consequences

Trump has successfully demonstrated the tactic of threatening dire consequences to bring latent matters to the forefront, to wit: Greenland – the intended consequence was not “taking” this island but forcing Denmark to send arms to protect against China/Russia closing the new sea-lanes. The intended consequences of saying he was going to withdraw from NATO suddenly inspired the members to start paying up; and pressuring Cuba to change regimes by controlling Venezuelan oil….

Trump started the Iran War with the intended consequence of securing their uranium stockpile and eliminating their military capabilities. Didn’t happen. We lost the war – so far. The unforeseen and unintended consequence was Iran closing of the Strait of Hormuz, charging passage tolls and motivating other nations to consider closing/charging tolls of internationally recognized shipping lanes such as the English Channel, Straits of Taiwan, Gibraltar, Bab el‑Mandeb….

The intended consequences of the “deal” might be to create a justification-line; conditions that depict verifiable acts that Trump will allege were committed thus justifying the knockout blow. The blow…the one thing Trump hasn’t menaced…nukes. A nuclear bomb detonated in a remote area messages Tehran is next if capitulation demands aren’t met. That and other enemies might begin playing nice.
