Obama Knew: Obama the Teflon Don

In part 1 I walked through what a great job Dan Bongino has done over the years becoming one of the leading voices of sanity for conservatives and bringing the fight to the looney left. I also introduced my hypothesis that I believe Dan is wrong that there was no central coordinator or choreographer of the Russia Collusion Hoax against Trump-as I believe it was Obama. Part of the proof I offered is that Obama was the one man in government who could have put a stop to it: but didn’t. I should mention that Dan has been calling Obama the worst president in American history for some time now: that is something we can all agree on.

Part 2 Will begin to outline other instances where Obama had a chance to do the right thing-but he repeatedly failed in that regard, as well as instances where he did the wrong thing-and lied about it. Or where his administration undertook actions they knew the American people and their representatives would not-under any circumstances support-and he used the power of government to distort the facts, hide the truth, and use the LSMBTG* like a rented mule to delude and mask the truth from the public: and then boasted about pulling it off.

I touched upon some early-on tells that he had somewhat of a shady way of dealing with matters of concern brought up about him. We would not have been so surprised that he had a propensity to play fast and loose-with an “unusual” relationship with the truth-had not the LSMBTG-early-on-decided he was the one. We first gained glimpses of Obama’s character before he took office.

Facing lingering questions about his birth certificate, he could have resolved the issue immediately by producing the document. Many on the left seemed outraged by the questions concerning Obama’s birth, perhaps forgetting that an Obama biographer writing in support of Obama’s book Dreams From My Father had described in his 1991 bio that he was “born in Kenya:” the bio remained online until April 2007. Obama declared his intention to run for president 2 May 2007….

Now Obama did release a poor copy of a birth certificate that was issued by the state of Hawaii, but it was illegible regarding the seal and certification. All manner of suppositions and questions arose over time as he failed to follow-up, from whether it actually existed, or if it might have listed his religion as Muslim/Islam at birth, numerous stories propagated in the absence of settling the question early-on in the campaign. The birth issue was not the only concern, as there was his relationship with former terrorist William Ayers-nothing to see there, details associated with his decades long relationship with Reverend Wright-nothing to see there, allegations of a cozy relationship with Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam-nothing to see there-and the more recently released photograph of the two men that was deep sixed since 2005 until Obama left office-nothing to see there-and about as normal as a skunk at a garden party, some murky details relating to how he won his Illinois Senate seat, information relating to his college transcripts (who cares-although the story that he received financial aid as an immigrant or foreign student never went away,) financial matters involving a shady character in Chicago where his long relationship resulted in him giving the political donations he received to charity-while acknowledging it was unwise to accept them knowing that Rezko was under investigation (Obama had represented him at one time, wrote letters on his behalf while in the senate, certainly not an admission of guilt, but poor judgement (Tony Rezko,)): any and all questions were dismissed as evidence of racism on the part of the curious, as the LSMBTG took up his cause and attacked those who dared to raise issues about his background, rather than help clarify why these things were not issues or problems.

Political opponents have done odd things over the last several elections, including during the 2008 democrat primary when rumors, innuendos and some loose talk that all amounted to a smear campaign was attributed to the HRC campaign-specifically HRC henchman Sid “the snake” Blumenthal, as the North Carolina primary was approaching. Things obviously worked out but this was the later basis for Obama giving HRC one bit of advice-which was not to hire Blumenthal at the State Department (and of course his name came up in both the Benghazi and Libya debacles-story for another day.) Later you had McCain near schizophrenic on his campaign strategy, one minute not wanting to make an issue out of Obama’s religion-while attacking and then retreating on the issue of socialism and terrorism and some of the above issues-or seemingly any of the issues that hung out there like a big old pinata begging to be smacked, to Romney not pressing for answers to obvious questions-as he was being smeared by the LSMBTG at every turn-while they continued their precedent of an inability to inform the American people on the Obama administration foibles and helped Obama get through the debates. Later still there was Bernie Sanders lack of curiosity about HRC’s illegal server and emails-while he was being done dirty by a Democratic National Committee that was going in the tank for HRC as they let her take it over.

This was strange business indeed that said a lot about the state of US politics in the 21st century post Bush-and none of it good. But all of that on steroids to infinity and beyond pales in comparison to the HRC led Russia smear-fest perpetrated on novice politician Trump-that was aided and abetted by the LSMBTG every step of the way and a whole of the US government-which could have stopped it in its tracks at any and all points along the way.

How do you explain the failure of our government to shut this obvious hoax down? It wasn’t too late when President Obama was briefed by CIA Director John Brennan on 28 July 2016 that HRC had approved a plan 26 July 2016 to conduct a Russian smear campaign against Trump to paint him as a Putin ally with an interest in defeating HRC. Obama directed the IC to put together an Investigative Referral (IC IR) to the FBI advising them of the plan. But Obama allowed it to be slow rolled, with the completion and transmission of the IR taking place some six weeks later-7 September 2016. While putting pressure on the FBI on 3 September 2016 to provide updates that Lisa Page was compiling, because “POTUS wants to know everything we are doing.”

Who was the one person-that adult in the room we like to think will be there when and as needed-that could have done the right thing and brought the whole charade to a stop at any point along the journey: immediately? I made light of it in an earlier article with a reference to Jethroe Tull’s Locomotive Breath: HRC had Obama-well-under control-and she was not going down alone for her email server or her crazy Russian Collusion Hoax, which the LSMBTG gave legs to throughout the campaign.

But Obama could have and should have stopped it in its tracks.

At the end of the day a president has a lot of latitude in the things they decide to do-to prioritize-to work-but also with the things they don’t do and let slide. And this was a president with a penchant for letting some big things slide.

In my view he bears full and total responsibility for not putting a stop to this political nonsense and hoax perpetrated by HRC on her political opponent.

It is not too much to ask for the American people to expect the President of the United States to do the right thing in the face of alternatives. But we assume character and integrity-ethics, morals, a belief in and fealty to our constitution and the American sense of fairness in a land of laws and not men.

Some do not measure up to that standard-and I don’t normally put “high” in front of standard, as there is just one grade in most matters that count. I found a wallet leaving Big R where the carts are collected several weekends ago-I grabbed it-my grandson thought we should check to see “how much was in it”-I explained to him that if it were my wallet, I would hope an honest person would find it and bring it to Customer Service so they could try to find the owner-since they would likely have the customer’s name as part of their rewards program. We went in and a very upset older gentleman was talking to Bill (the manager)-I showed him the wallet-he immediately beamed-gave me a hug-gave my grandson a hug-insisted on buying him something of his choice from the sweet department. He talked about it all the way home. I’m not a big fan of adding adjectives or modifiers in front of things like ethics, morals, or standards: people who do concern me.

But I want to return to the theme I introduced in this article about character to “pile-on” a bit on why I believe Dan Bongino is wrong about there being no central orchestration of the Russia Hoax-Trump takedown.

The first big indication of how the Obama administration was going to deal with the American people and oversight by our elected officials-often touted by Obama himself, as he planned to be the most open and communicative administration in American history-that was his story-was when Fast and Furious broke into the national conscious. As the story came out it was a shocking revelation to think that our government could be involved in such a hair-brained scheme worthy of a Three Stooges or Gilligan’s Island episode. The brief facts are:

In November 2009, the ATF’s Phoenix field office launched an operation in which guns bought by drug-cartel straw purchasers in the U.S. were allowed to “walk” across the border into Mexico. ATF agents would then track the guns as they made their way through the ranks of the cartel.

The plan was a mess-the weapons made their way across the Mexican Border-and vanished. Whistleblowers reported the ATF never made any serious attempts to trace the weapons. In March 2010 ATF Agents expressed concern about the potential danger these weapons could represent in the wrong hands. In October 2010 Fast and Furious weapons were found at the scene of the murder of the brother of the former attorney general of the state of Chihuahua. As recently as January 2016, a raid on one of the hideouts of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman not only captured him but also a .50 Caliber sniper rifle that was one of 34 sold in the original scheme: that’s a weapon that can take out a brinks truck.

In December 2010, drug cartel members looking to rip off drug smugglers along the border engaged Border Patrol Agents, killing Border Agent Brian Terry, who was shot in the back and bled out before help could arrive or he could be evacuated: the weapons used were part of the Fast and Furious operation.

Congressional investigations started some two months later. Right out of the gate the administration lied and stonewalled congress about the facts. This formal response started it all:

In February, in response to a request from Grassley, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich submitted for the record a letter declaring that any claim “that ATF ‘sanctioned’ or otherwise knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser who then transported them to Mexico — is false. ATF makes every effort to interdict weapons that have been purchased illegally and prevent their transportation to Mexico.”

It took until November 2011 for AG Holder to acknowledge the story was indeed true and in December 2011, he withdrew the Weich memo because it was “inaccurate:” it took almost a year for Holder’s DOJ to acknowledge events they well knew in December 2010. The more information became available, the more apparent it became that there was more that was “inaccurate” about a story that increasingly stunk out loud. Holder stated in May 2011 that he only knew about it for a few weeks, but email information surfaced in October 2011 showing that he was briefed on the operation as early as July 2010. Additionally, documents revealed that in January 2010 a task force working under DOJ had added personnel to increase support for this specific operation.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, back before they went in the “tank,” CBS news obtained emails exchanged between ATF officials discussing the strategy of using the example of the weapons they had allowed to be sold and to escape across the border to Mexico-for use by the cartels-as evidence that US weapons sales reporting regulations needed to be tightened up through additional more draconian measures.

By summer 2012 congress and Holder were at an impasse, with congressman Darryl Issa accusing DOJ of withholding some 1300 pages that had not been provided to the committee, culminating in President Obama declaring the unprovided material as protected under “executive privilege.” This seemed like a stretch and a strange thing to declare when the WH had maintained all along they had nothing to do with and didn’t know about Fast and Furious. The committee recommended and congress agreed to hold AG Holder in contempt of congress, the first sitting member of a president’s cabinet to be held in contempt.

The DOJ Office of Inspector General later recommended disciplinary action against 14 ATF personnel, but absolving Holder, somehow coming to the conclusion that in spite of several instances where information or reports on Fast and Furious made it to Holder’s desk, he had failed to see them. So much for the standard of being “responsible for everything your department does or fails to do.”

By the time of the contempt vote, 300 Mexicans had been killed by weapons linked to the operation, and one of the two Muslim terrorists charged in the Pamela Geller “Draw Muhammad” contest in Texas had a weapon similarly related. The summary from the article says it all: At best, the operation and its aftermath were an exercise in astonishing malpractice; at worst, the administration knowingly exhibited a reckless disregard for human life — then covered it up.

Not a very auspicious start for the “most transparent administration in US history.” The takeaways or lesson learned from this incident are clear and disturbing: The Obama administration lied and stonewalled congress and the American public for a year after Agent Terry was killed, denying knowledge or culpability, and never did provide congress with the information necessary to provide oversight. When forced to take action by a contempt charge from congress-Obama claimed executive privilege for an action he had insisted the WH did not know about and had nothing to do with: was he lying when he stated they didn’t know about it, or when he exerted executive privilege? Character matters.

When did Obama find out that this operation resulted in the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry??? Was it a year later when Holder admitted the operation was in fact “a thing?” Maybe Obama’s policy of “don’t do stupid schift” only applied to foreign and not domestic policy…

This was a big tell on how Obama was going to guide his administration through problematic and nettlesome stories, but pales in comparison to other ongoing matters that we did not know about for years.

  1. I’ll start with this: “Dan has been calling Obama the worst president in American history for some time now: that is something we can all agree on.” Max Dribbler – AFNN

I’m not so sure anymore. I suppose it depends upon whether or not you believe that Obama is the man behind the black curtain and that Joementia is just the dancing monkey or that if you believe that Joe is, nominally, the POTUS (Not MY POTUS, now or EVER but the guy occupying the Oval Office, nonetheless). I suppose the real difference is that Joe Biden is just STUPID whereas Barack Obama is actually EVIL. (see this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O9FFrLpinQ )

Regarding Obama and his knowing and willing malfeasance, you point out the following: “And this was a president with a penchant for letting some big things slide.” In my lifetime I’ve seen some pretty terrible people occupy the oval office Since 1948 (the year of my birth) there was one, arguably BAD Republican (Richard Nixon) and one arguably GOOD Democrat (John Kennedy). I will confess to having difficulty being unbiased with regard to either of those men. John Kennedy was elected on my 12th birthday and there was little I did not like about him then and not all that much that I’ve learned about him since that I find really objectionable beyond his treatment of women. For Nixon, he was a bitter disappointment.

I cannot help but wonder that if he had fought for the win in 1960 that what happened in 2020 would NOT have happened and would he have been a better POTUS in that instance than he turned out to be when he succeeded LBJ, another TRULY EVIL person and utterly unfit to occupy the office.

The one thing that has become clear to me, a child of the Jim Crow South that was exploited to a fare-thee-well by Democrat race hucksters and hustlers until the Republican Party finally began to gain some ground and occupy elective offices up and down and all across Dixie putting an end to “The Solid South” and forcing a total re-alignment of the political poles in the first half of my lifetime after the Democrats had maintained a virtual total lock every since the day Abraham Lincoln was elected in November of 1860: Democrats care only and ever about ONE thing: POWER. They do NOT gave a rat’s ass in hell about The Constitution, about ANY of the Constituents about whom they claim to care to much and to whose future they claim to be so deeply committed or any of the niceties of The Rule of Law, except to the degree that they can exploit it to ensure victory at the polls.

The entire party is a vast criminal enterprise and will use whatever means they can to attain, expand, use, MISuse and ABuse power, all with an eye toward perpetual control of it.

    • Thanks Bob, appreciate the comments-there are several more to follow on this Obama series. You should write an article or two on your thoughts about the political environment over the decades. Politics are “ripe for strife”-I was never a Nixon fan-but he had some thought and logic behind some of his policies and he seemed to have thought about the world at large a lot more than many-and Watergate increasingly looks like small b baseball in comparison to some of things that have gone on since. JFK and RFK after him were the darlings of the east coast-just emotional, loved potential giants. The more I learned about JFK-the womanizer-mafia relationships-Chicago and Texas election shenanigans, the associations, the brinksmanship (Cuban Missile Crisis,) allowing the coup on Diem to go forward-naively believing assurances that the CIA and Vietnamese wouldn’t harm Diem and his brother, his intent to get out of Vietnam once he was re-elected-having realized it was not worth the cost in lives-resources-US reputation-but now a politician in every way who did nothing about it-and then lost the opportunity to take action on it-which condemned us to another 10 years of feckless efforts–but it is one of those easy to take both sides issues that used to make for enjoyable debate. JFK would be a republican today-there is no room for him of the left side of the aisle anymore-and that is the real tragedy of politics in America 2022..Thanks again! MD

      • Who are you kidding? In today’s GOP JFK would be denounced as a “right wing extremist” despite being a functional twin on policies to Shrub… I once sat down and compared party platforms and policies, and found that the difference between the Communist Party USA and “mainstream” Democrats was around forty years (Obama 2008 being an almost straight lift of CPUSA 1968) and from D’s to Establishment R’s another 40 (again, JFK to Shrub).

Imagine what the eGOP will be tomorrow… 🙁 which is disturbingly close to the Left Coast GOP’s today.
