Abuses, Then and Now

When in the Course of human events...”

The document which started us on the path to liberty stands in stark contrast to the path that we are on. Let’s look at some of the charges made against King George III. Specifically, at five abuses within the Declaration that triggered our rebellion and what they might mean today under the reign of Joe Biden.

“He has refused his Assent to Laws,” opening our SW border to cartels and over 2 million known migrants, and untold amounts of fentanyl poison. NY Post, 3/2022 and 2/2023.

“..sent..Swarms of Officers to harass our People,” through the IRS (Inflation Reduction Act authorizes 87,000 new agents. A national police force?) Weaponizing the FBI and DOJ. ACLU writings, More About FBI Spying and Surveillance under the USA PATRIOT Act

“…subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution,” by giving sovereignty to the World Health Organization and deliberately bypassing the Senate. yournews.com, 2/2023

“…imposing Taxes on us without our Consent,” by increasing the deficit, inflation, and through Build Back Better. Forbes, 4/2022

“…depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury,” January 6 prisoners. US Constitution, Sixth Amendment (“speedy and public trial”)

Have we in fact enabled what appears to be a tyrant? Intentional and irrational, even Democrats can’t hide his failings. Is Joe in the midst of creating a socialist/communist state? Dividing people once again by race, by creed, by station? And have we allowed Big Government to become the new religion?

Is Obama’s promise of “…fundamentally transforming the United States of America…” (cnsnews.com, 1/16/17) coming to pass through the Biden administration? Biden’s appointees are the failures of the Obama administration getting a chance to once again display their ineptitude and unconcern for the American people and the American model.

George Washington said in his inaugural address, that “…the propitious smiles of Heaven, can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right.” In 2020, we elected a man doing all in his power to subvert American greatness. And Heaven weeps.

  1. When compromising between good and evil, evil always wins. We got lazy, and we compromised. We have ourselves to blame.

There has never been a time in history where compromise has not left a door open to further compromise and that is what many politicians are “experts” at. Whether we blame it on the politicians, our elected representatives, or ourselves, for not electing better representatives, it is always coming back to our shoulders, because we compromised something.
We were given a flawed, but very important set of documents to form a government and society, and we let those who came up with it, down, by not holding to it and defending it.
When we finally accept that, that is when we will finally use “When in the course of human events…” to fix all that we allowed others to break. Until then, we will continue to find every excuse to let the fall continue, because of those documents, that leave many of us as powerless as it does those who wish to rule over us, powerful.

That’s a very dark place to have to be in.
