Woke Programs like Critical Race Theory are destroying our military might. We need a return to core values.
The US military has been an integral part of the country’s history since 1776. However, in recent years, it appears that the military has lost touch with its roots. The majority of those willing to serve in our Armed Forces come from rural backgrounds and possess traditional rural values.
As a former Army Officer who spent 13 years working in the recruiting and manpower side of the Army, I can attest that when you disassociate yourself from your base, you “shoot yourself in the foot.” The military must reconnect with the values and interests of its core demographic if it wants to continue to attract the best and brightest into its ranks.
This is especially important given the changes that have taken place in the military, making it difficult to maintain the “family business” cultural aspect of our service. As a third-generation Army member with two teenage boys, I have seen firsthand the impact of the Post 9/11 GI bill on recruitment.
While it’s great that my boys have their college education paid for and get monthly spending money, it has come at a cost to our Nation. The early analysis of the Post 9/11 GI bill indicated that it would have a negative impact on recruitment, and we may be seeing the early warning signs of that now. Additionally, the rapid slide to the left our Nation has taken with Wokeism has further alienated the military’s core demographic.
We must focus on recruiting from rural values and ensure that those who serve feel valued and respected for those traditional values. It is time for the military to recognize the importance of its core demographic and make sure that they feel valued and respected. The military needs to be a place where young men and women can go to serve their country and feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves.
As a Nation, we must stop separating from our base and reconnect with the values that have made us strong. It’s not just about altruism, but it’s also about maintaining a sustainable business manpower model. The military is the backbone of our Nation, and we must do everything we can to keep it strong. We must keep it focused on its core mission, protecting and defending the Constitution of these United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
I agree. With the literal tons of money spent on our military it is impossible to explain how it has been allowed to diminish to the state that it is in now. There should never be a lack of staffing or equipment.
Thank you for speaking up Dave.
