A balanced budget isn’t hard to get.

We seem to face a repeat of drama and crisis every few months as we catch the can that was just kicked down the road. Over and over again we the people are whipped into panic as we are told that grandma will starve if a budget amendment isn’t passed to buy her another day. The panic seems to never end. It only gets delayed for a short period.

If only there were a way to get our hired hands inside of the DC beltway to do their job. It would be so nice to have confidence that the stooges that we send to work for us would actually do the job entrusted to them. It would be an absolute delight to know that they aren’t creating a fake sense of panic so as to distract from devious tactics that get our employees more power over us. It is interesting that budget talks always have other non-budgetary items involved. Pet projects and expenditures should be debated and added as proper legislation, not as earmarks and addendums in a moment of crisis.

In the manipulation of the American taxpayers we often see the threats of shutting down services and stopping life savings payments. It is peculiar that the retired congressmen don’t have to worry about their retirement checks being held up. We never hear any threats of current senators having their healthcare held hostage. Congresspersons had lavish international excursions during recent budget negotiations. They didn’t seem concerned that they might be stranded in a foreign country because their travel expenses were canceled.

Imagine a world where the first people to be impacted by poor performance are the ones failing at their job. I dream of a country where congressional pay and benefits are based on performance. The clowns in DC don’t want to get a balanced budget passed? That’s fine by me. It wouldn’t be fine with the wives of retired congressmen when they don’t have their pensions or health insurance. The old-timers know how to get things done. The old guard would get the current congress to do what needs to be done so that they make sure that they get their benefits. They didn’t care about your grandma when they were in office, they don’t care about her now. They only care about themselves. They have proven it.

It’s time to use the politicians’ greed against them. We have no other tools against them at this moment.
