Let’s be honest: Christians are no better than anyone else. We’re all human, and humans—no matter how many Bible verses they can quote—are fully capable of doing selfish, manipulative, and downright ugly things. The difference is, when someone slaps the label Christian on top of it, the damage cuts deeper. It’s spiritual fraud—sin wrapped in Scripture, and it’s happening more than we’d like to admit.
Some people don’t come to church to find Christ; they come to find power. You’ll spot them easily. They love being in charge, always have the “final say,” and somehow their “ministry” always points right back to them. They’ll smile and say “God bless you” while quietly pushing out anyone who questions them. The humble servant leader that Jesus modeled? Nowhere in sight. These folks aren’t washing feet—they’re polishing their own crowns.
Too many modern “Christian” organizations have become little kingdoms ruled by egos wearing halos. Volunteers are used, families are guilted, and anyone who doesn’t bow to the founder’s vision is treated like an enemy of God. It’s church by intimidation, not inspiration. Students and staff learn early: obey the principal, not the principle. And all of it is done “in Jesus’ name.”
But here’s the kicker—none of that is Christian. Money, power, and control are the oldest idols on Earth, and they’re still fooling people today. The true gospel isn’t about dominating others or building empires—it’s about dying to self, serving others, and reflecting Christ’s humility. Jesus didn’t form committees to secure influence or use guilt to keep disciples in line. He taught love, truth, and freedom—not manipulation, fear, and control.
So beware of anyone who calls themselves a Christian leader but demands loyalty to themselves instead of to Christ. Beware of the false teachers and prophets who promise grace but practice domination. Especially beware of those “Christian schools” that seem to worship the founder more than the Savior. When the spotlight burns brighter on the leader than on the cross, the light isn’t holy—it’s stage lighting.
The Bible says you’ll know them by their fruit. If the fruit tastes like pride, fear, and gossip, don’t call it Christian—call it what it is: rotten. The good news? Jesus doesn’t need public relations help from people playing God. Truth exposes pride, and grace outlives every empire built on ego.
So, let’s stop pretending religion makes anyone better. It doesn’t. But a personal relationship with the creator, humility, repentance, and real faith? Those can still change the world.
