Parody As a Weapon Part CXIX; Cori Bush Hypocrisy

Satire/Parody

At the end of last month, in Part CXVIII, we engaged in some prognostication and reflection about “Groundhog Day” (the movie, as opposed to the holiday) and how the music chosen can reflect the beating the country is taking as a result of having Joe Biden occupy the White House. This week, we will appropriate the catalogue of a man who was taken away too soon and too young (yet mercifully passed before Sonny & Cher had their own prime time television show) to examine how some in Congress fund their own personal police.

News reports released this week reveal that Cori Bush, a congressional representative whose Missouri district includes large segments of St. Louis, was being investigated by the Biden Department of Justice for how she funded her personal security team. Bush is a member of the far left democrat caucus known as “The Squad” that includes the recently censured Hamas collaborator Rashida Tlaib, former bartender Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and former principal/ false alarm tripper Jamaal Bowman. She gained prominence in St. Louis political circles for her support of the “Defund the Police” movement and leading the Ferguson protest riots.

Bush has been anything but shy in justifying her personal security expenditures while reducing that available to communities because she claims her life has been threatened by white supremacists and police officers, and were those threats to be carried out, she would be unable to carry out the duties of her office and her promises to help others. In a somewhat less narcissistic rant, the congresswoman tries to explain to Joy Reid of MSNBC the difficulty she had finding reliable security, leading her to hire her husband, who (despite reports of his not being licensed to perform security services in St. Louis) had served in the 101st as an Air Assault soldier (which is a resume’ enhancer, to be sure).

Given Bush’s affiliation with the Soros and other dark money funded “Justice Democrats”, the payment of her husband for “security” services out of campaign contributions could possibly be perceived as a bribery/ money laundering scheme, though it seems unlikely that a Biden Justice Department would look at such a violation coming from a democrat, given how it treat presidents differently in the investigation of handling of classified material.

Those who take the time to view Bush’s lame explanation of why her life matters more than the life of anyone else might be tempted to characterize her performance as pitiful. It is difficult to hear such a word and not have Otis Redding, the vocalist who insisted on being called “Mr. Pitiful”, come to mind.

Though his life and career were cut short by a December, 1967 plane crash, he went on to posthumously land a number one hit on both the Pop and R&B charts with “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay”. Otis Redding’s debut album “Pain In My Heart” had its tracks recorded in 1962 and 1963, and was released early in 1964. One of the hits included thereon (which, like so many of his hits, meant full employment for the brass section) was entitled “Security”. I have borrowed the tune from  this top soul singer to mock a congressional representative who has sold her soul (and that of her security detail/ husband) to Soros and other dark money donors.

I want security, yeah
Now that I’m a congress boss, oh now
Security, yeah
Whether it’s a campaign or taxpayer cost, oh now

Po-lice get no money, right muh now, muh now, muh now
That’s part of my game
But security I have one of my things, yeah
It’s not the same, yeah, now

Security, yeah
I want just a little bridge, oh now
Security, yeah
With a little spousal privilege, now

Those sweet tender lips you know they tell me that
You’re the one who makes me whole
Darling, how can I forget
You’re on the payroll, yeah now

I want security, yeah
To make sure down I won’t be gunned, oh now
Security
No matter what else I defund, oh

Those sweet tender lips you know protect me there
You’ve taken my heart
Darling, but in our contract
‘Til death do we part, yeah now

And if someone else picks up the tab, right now, now, baby
Darling, everything is gonna be alright
That’s full time, and overtime, baby
