Richard Czechowski: The United States is at a Precipice

I confess that for the first time in my life, I am really worried about the future of the United States. We have always had political differences since our first administration where Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton led opposing factions within the cabinet of George Washington, but not since the Civil War have we been in a more dangerous time in which those differences can turn the US into a post constitutional nation, united only by a common currency, economic system and, to some degree, a shared foreign policy.  We survived that by the fact that Abraham Lincoln defeated his former military leader George McLellan in 1864.  We may not be so lucky this time if the Democrat Party were to win control of both houses of Congress as well as retain control of the Presidency.

Admittedly, pundits have often dubbed each election “the most important of our lifetime,” so such claims often come across as trite.  Unlike the present, we always had two strong political parties whose leaders differed on how best to serve America, to protect her from attack both from abroad and from within and to help Americans to succeed in business and with their day to day lives.  Such is no longer the case.  There are few “moderate” Democrats left in Congress.  Even the “liberals” who are not “woke” realize that they need the support of the woke in order to retain political power, so they will vote for absurd policies such as the “Green New Deal” and abortion with no limits, lest they risk alienating the part of their party that is energized and on a mission to push its leftist agenda.

For the first time in history, one party is so desperate to retain control of the White House that they are using what is commonly known as “lawfare” to interfere with the election by attempting to financially hamstring its leading opponent, Donald Trump, both via frivolous civil cases that would only obtain favorable judicial holdings in the most left wing of jurisdictions and with criminal trials using “novel” legal theories, also located in Democrat strongholds.

The obvious question is “why?”  The Democrat Party (which is NOT “democratic,” so I refuse to use that term) is so desperate to obtain and to hold onto power for powers sake, irrespective of the harm their policies are likely to cause to the nation.  Does anyone honestly believe that the current flood of illegal aliens across the border, many from nations openly hostile to the United States, is accidental or in any way benefits the United States? (More on this later.)  Let me outline the goals of the Democrat Party should they win all elective branches of government in 2024.

First: Abolish the Senate Filibuster.  This will permit all legislation to pass the Senate with no cloture vote.  Currently, the Senate requires 60 votes to pass most legislation.  That would disappear if Democrats were to repeal it.  The presence of Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema prevented that from happening even though Democrats took control of the Senate in 2021.  This infuriated the Progressive wing of the Democrat Party.  Neither of those senators is returning to Congress.  There are no more “moderate “Democrat senators.  Despite the evidence that many Americans voted for Joe Biden to bring “normalcy” back to Washington, most were not supportive of the woke agenda of the far left.  Biden owed his election to them who otherwise supported Bernie Sanders.  His “advisers” are clearly of that bent and from day one, Biden has pursued a very left-wing agenda, including ending all of Donald Trump’s successful border policies.

Second: Pass legislation to expand the Supreme Court from nine justices to thirteen.  Democrats are still fuming about the refusal to confirm Merrick Garland in 2016.  In order to eliminate the current Supreme Court as the last remaining bastion against unconstitutional legislation becoming the law of the land, Democrats WILL confirm four very left-wing activist justices to manufacture a 7-6 majority on the Court.

Third: Pass legislation to admit the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as states.  As DC will certainly elect two Democrat senators and Puerto Rico is likely to do the same, this would give Democrats a huge margin in the Senate and, barring major tectonic shifts in the electorate, would ensure Democrat majorities in the Senate for generations.

Fourth: Grant full voting rights and amnesty to all non-citizens, including and especially the 10 million or so illegal aliens (also called asylum seekers if you enjoy being gaslit).  Within one month of taking office, Joe Biden signed 94 executive orders that reversed what were very successful measures to reduce the flow of illegal aliens and to require asylum seekers to remain in Mexico until their immigration hearings. Few Americans realize that the prohibition against aliens voting in federal elections is not in the Constitution.  Rather, it exists because of a law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1996.

It appears that the overwhelming majority of the Biden aliens would support Democrats if given the chance to vote because this administration is  making them dependent upon the government for everything from lodging, clothing, food and employment.  (incidentally, much if the “job growth “ in the recent unemployment report was from jobs to non-citizens…who are depressing wages, but that’s another topic).

Democrats have always succeeded at making groups of people dependent upon them in return for votes.  As many of  the members of those “groups” are finally moving away from supporting Democrats, they realize they need to replace those voters since people are realize the toxic nature of many Democrat policies.  Additionally, by permitting these people to stay in the US, their numbers add to the census count and representation of the so called “blue
“ states where most end up, further strengthening political power among the Democrat Party.  Of course, anyone who points out this obvious fact will immediately be branded a racist by the news media and the Democrats.

Fifth: Consolidate political power.  This will happen as Democrats ignore the Constitution and pass legislation to federalize all elections.  This would mean same day voter registration, all mail in ballots with no signature verification or proof of identity.  Who will stop them? Not the new 7-6 Supreme Court!  History shows us that judges appointed by Democrats tend to view the law as a means to an end and tend to make rulings based on subjective beliefs rather than objective law (history and precedent).

Another way to consolidate power is to disarm the population to the maximum extent possible.  Knowing that it would take a Constitutional Amendment to abolish the First and Second Amendments, they will find select cases to bring forth that will restrict those rights only to those who toe the woke line.  All it takes is one supreme Court ruling to reverse the Heller decision that enshrined the ownership of firearms by private citizens not members of a “militia.”

Sixth: Eliminate the tax-exempt status of all churches and other religious organizations.  Wokeism is a “religion” in its own right and the values of wokeism, an amalgamation of Post-Modernism and Neo-Marxism, cannot compete with the absolute truths one finds in most Judeo-Christian denominations.

Seventh: Pass a federal law legalizing abortion at the federal level with no gestation restrictions or limits.

Eighth: Attempt to enforce all new laws and policies via the use of federal law enforcement and, if necessary, the use of the armed forces.  Granted, the latter raises thorny questions as pertains to the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, but with a 7-6 activist majority, does anyone think the Supreme Court would enforce this law against any Democrat who violates it?

Now what would all this mean to the people of the “United” States of America? Fortunately, many “red” states have established themselves as “Second Amendment Sanctuary” states and will still permit their citizens he right to bear arms as citizens.  The big challenge could come if the federal government tried to impose gun registration and tried to force states to enforce such policies.  What red states would do is what Texas recently did when the administration ordered them to remove border wire.

It’s the old theory of “nullification.”  The Biden Administration backed down and did not attempt to stop Texas from stopping the flow of aliens across the Rio Grande.  Had they tried it could have set up a violent confrontation between state and federal officials-not a good look during an election year, especially since Texas would have been better armed than the feds.

I do not foresee (nor do I want) an actual civil war between red and blue states or citizens with differing viewpoints. At present, Americans can vote with their wallets and their feet by moving to states whose politics best reflect their own.  Could an intrusive Democrat-controlled federal government try to restrict the flow of people across state lines (as Australia did during the COVID emergency)? Again, this could be a trigger point, but does anyone think this 7-6 Supreme Court would stop them?

For those who are skeptical of my predictions, all it takes is a Google search to see that Democrats have put forth such legislation in recent years.  The Left continues to tell us what they want to do; it is no secret. Perhaps we should start to pay attention?

In summary, Califiornia serves as the model for what woke Democrats want to bring to the entire United States.  Gavin Newsom is anathema to many of us who left that beautiful state because we saw what was happening to our basic freedoms as we paid higher taxes for mediocre schools and facilities. Yet Newsom serves as a hero and an inspiration to leftists who want to force their agenda of economic degrowth (for the sake of climate change), disarming law abiding citizens, mandating speech codes and passing laws to jail citizens for “:misgendering” and using the wrong “pronouns.”

We who disagree with this woke and dystopian viewpoint can resist to some degree by nullifying intrusive federal laws, but can we stop the endless flow of illegal aliens into the United States?  The dangers from this remain enormous, especially when one considers that there are now more single men of military age that entered under the Biden Administration than we have the entire size of the US military,  The risk from terrorism or foreign attack is magnified by this.  If we wish to preserve our constitutional republic, we must vote against those who seek to destroy it!
