How Does A Physicist Sneak Up On His Peers With That Which Undermines Him???
Part 1 presented the somewhat emerging and startling fact that many physicists have embraced the postulation that evidence can no longer be denied that the “way beyond random chance” of our universe and therefore our existence on earth coming about through “luck” is a hugely improbable, very large number even by Cosmology theorems: near zero, Jerry, zero.
With the ipso, comes the facto: if not random then somebody or something “dun it.” And that increasingly points to a divine hand, creator or God.
For those who may not have noticed-and it is more likely the media corruption known as the search engine manipulation effect (SEME,) which first gained widespread attention with the publication of this Stanford Study documented on You Tube- I’m likely seeing more information created by my interest areas that Google, Microsoft, MSN, and You Tube AI or cloud analytics have picked up on over time to “feed the Max” and pay the bills (click advertising.)
All to say there are a very large number of physics related articles appearing these days in my daily reading “panes,” which is about as organic-natural-as false teeth, the Harris persona, and you know what. This is a brief list of them from the last week or so (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, (OK-enough already, I get the point, shaft, feathers (an Army Combined Armed Services Staff School joke-where you train to time and not to standard. Which reminds me of our class plaque which displayed-in splendiferous 3D-a stallion of magnificent proportions with the saying “You can make it harder, but you can’t make it longer” which I thought was appropriate given how most small groups leaders-except, ironically enough-ours, conducted the program of instruction.)))
The reason for all this “to do” about physics references and trending philosophy is really to introduce the second or insinuated topic from Part 1 and that is the belief alluded to about us living in a “Virtual Reality.”
Thomas Campbell is a nuclear physicist who worked at the National Aeronautic Space Agency (NASA) for years working with missile defense systems over the past ~20 years to present.
He is the author of a book series published in 2003-a trilogy-called My Big Toe (Theory of Everything,) including Awakening, Discovery, and Inner Workings. This is his website.
In life you sometimes run across people who are suited to the professions they undertake like the proverbial duck to water. Tom is such a duck, as evidenced by his low-key demeanor, manner of speech, deadpan delivery, conservative nature in the face of delivering veritable body blows to his “kiss’n cousin physicists” community, while speaking truth to power in doses that are measured, rational, well thought through and complete.
He speaks the lingo, rationalizes the arguments, establishes the necessary baseline, sprinkles in a surprising yet often “physics-based” wry wit, while literally bringing the battering ram to the heretofore known philosophy-and science-that purports to account for our universe and existence through historically unsatisfactory explanations that have demonstrably failed to produce the nirvana end state, holy grail of physics represented by the “Theory of Everything.”
As we say in the Army, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and poops through feathers, then… Tom has given a lot of time and thought to his theory. He easily expresses science and physics theories and theorems like a physicist-as you would expect from a card carrying member-couches his points/arguments in physicist logic, hedges his beliefs to separate his knowns/facts like a scientist/physicist, and-viola-there you go (physicists do not have feathers…)
To his credit Tom has increasingly stepped out bigly in this century to take ownership of and a leadership role in a quest to explain the key elements that emerge as takeaways from his work in the domain of his Big TOE.
That his premise is out of the mainstream of “physics–speak, thought and behavior” is likely the understatement of a lifetime. Which does not mean what you think it might, as Tom’s belief- which he expresses as a conviction that he defends in physics terms-has a compelling basis in science and physics “speak”: but is actually based on his true life experiences in developing his consciousness to lower his entropy and learn about the importance of “love” through a long term act of direct corroboration conducted through Out Of Body (OOB) exploration, although it is a term he is not fond of in view of his theory.
There: I said the not so quiet part out loud. Tom-through lived experience-managed to make himself the “entity”-the test article-under the microscope. If that doesn’t rock your boat and your world you may need to revisit that last little thought…
A famous sportscaster would say: Oh, my!
How Tom got started on this journey at the age of 5-7 years old and later during his college years is fascinating in and of itself, his childhood experiences a recollection that was somewhat lost in his data stream. Until later recalled as circumstances-happenstance-manifest destiny (an interesting concept somewhat fallen out of favor in modern times because of the “royalty” bias) or fortuitous coincidence eventually led him to a meeting with Robert A. Monroe in late 1971 or early 1972 in what would become a long working relationship with the Monroe Institute dedicated to education, exploration, and research into practical methods of accelerated learning through expanded forms of consciousness.
I mentioned Campbell’s Joe Rogan appearance in Part 1. One of the challenges Tom has likely wrestled with for several decades is how to balance his presentation-his explanation and the description of his theory on how his Big Toe works-getting the outline and framework described before he-in effect-loses those who have very little appetite for the insinuation about the intuitive, mystical, mythical side that inevitably leads to the out of the mainstream topics of OOB, astral projection, intuitive(ness,) psychics, mediums, CIA Project Stargate experiments, mind control, remote Viewing, and the like.
The interview with Joe Rogan was very informative but was like the theoretical problem of describing the elephant while blind folded without any clues, starting in the rear. I don’t know what Rogan was expecting but it was a cordial exchange with a lot of details.
Campbell has a very matter of fact, somewhat dry, factual presentation style delivered in an even keel, deadpan manner. His trilogy is very well written but is similarly presented in a science or fact-based style that represents a tough slog to get though.
Rogan himself apparently came away unconvinced after his session with Campbell, having recently weighed-in on the belief that Jesus was much more believable than a Big Bang Theory that came out of nothing.
Campbell’s Virtual Reality thesis is based on the belief that we have been put on earth to enhance consciousness through lived experiences-lifetime after potentially myriad lifetime.
Enhanced consciousness reduces entropy which in turn enables an optimization of energy expenditure that in turn leads to better connection to the world around us: a move toward optimizing our place in the virtual reality.
The virtual reality provides the decision space arena in which humans develop in increasingly more sophisticated ways toward the end state goal in recognizing the value of love and optimizing consciousness.
Campbell has proposed experiments and a series of efforts are underway to test the hypothesis of his virtual reality theory by replicating the famous/infamous two slit photon experiment using a variety of monitoring and erasure techniques where the outcome is affected by observation: meaning it can be predicted.
Monroe began his investigation of his own lived experiences of what he came to call “Out Of Body” sessions in the middle to late 1950s, subsequently founding the institute in a determined effort to get to the bottom of a phenomena he unwittingly stumbled into through repeated personal episodes.
Monroe authored three books that chronicled his efforts, including Journeys Out Of The Body (1975,) Far Journeys (1985,) and Ultimate Journey (1994.)
That these two gentlemen-among many other serious, working professionals-coalesced into a group that undertook a scientific approach to this aspect of consciousness-applying a rigorous methodology to document experiences, pursuing hypothesis associated with the observations, chronicling or documenting progress though various means including electronic, mechanical and audio techniques, is a testament to the seriousness and sobriety of their dedication.
Monroe was an audio and video engineer who had a very successful career in New York working on and creating television and radio-based entertainment shows that were incredibly popular during his tenure.
His bent of character or nature-later aptly described as a product of his many reincarnations over perhaps thousands of years- always somewhat defaulted to professional advice in problem solving. For instance-when he first began his OOB “escapades”-for lack of a better term-he sought medical and psychiatry expertise to try and make sense of what he was experiencing: his fears were unfounded, as he was not crazy and had no attributing malady, disease or disorder.
In a world where millions of people have experienced and documented the seemingly rare occurrence of a one time “OOB episode” caused by a near death experience, trauma, drugs, stress, grief or what have you, it is sobering to read in one of his books that Monroe’s log or journal of experiences-at the time- had reached 583 (OOB sessions/episodes.)
His proficiency in achieving OOB ”journeys” became akin to just another daily perfunctory act or ritual, to the point where he eventually became bored-how many times can you go to the moon or mars to observe nothing-somewhat exhausting his quest for enlightenment before revisiting his desire to truly get to the bottom of what he was experiencing and what it meant for mankind.
Resulting in a complete description in his books that documents the maturity of his consciousness over time as he learned “the system.” These efforts are chronicled in his books in what I would describe as a very scrupulous, articulate-dogmatic (from the standpoint of the quest for validation and verification) scientific manner that introduces what can only be described as a praxis-an entirely new-and foreign-as in otherworldly-vernacular and lingo associated with his interaction with sentient beings he met in these sessions.
The bottom line is the Monroe Institute is a serious scientific endeavor rooted in accepted practices of test and experimentation that documented the self-described “body asleep, mind awake” state of consciousness that resulted in an understanding of techniques and applications that fostered a systematic approach that proved repeatable by any ordinary human.
Monroe’s documentation and subsequent patent of what he called Hemispheric Synchronization (“HemiSync”) techniques to quiet the brain was a breakthrough in sleep and meditative techniques that has found widespread use across a wide range of efforts, including meditation, sleep disorders, medical conditions, etc.
The technique involves the generation of a disparate signal generated at 100Hz with a 4 degree or so separation between the left and right ear, which the brain modulates to level set as a harmonious signal heard as a single tone but in doing so helps eliminate the extraneous thought patterns that war with consciousness in focusing on a task at hand, in Monroe’s case, keeping the mind or consciousness active as the body sleeps.
Which provides the base brain wave state to enable the OOB state. There are a number of Monroe’s interviews available that well describe his experiences and his intention to document and further the science throughout his life, here, here, here, here (I recommend this one beginning with Tom Campbell’s explanation of his experience in college.)
Campbell and Monroe are two of the many who worked with the institute over the years to document the results of their efforts and provide training for others.
Which is an overly gross simplification that provides a break to introduce some of the other key players in this theory.
Some might observe that this article is somewhat like the X-Files or maybe Soap-where the episode always worked in the statement: Confused? You won’t be. Only in this case you might…
Suffice it to say this is a somewhat unusual if not radical proposition to wrap one’s arms and head around. Buying into Monroe’s experiences and Campbells theory has serious ramifications for belief systems.
For instance-buying into their experiences will change your view and outlook on death, loss, the afterlife and reincarnation. If we are consciousness or spirit that occupies a biological body-that is in effect an Avatar-at birth to make progress throughout myriad lifetimes on consciousness and reducing entropy-to learn the value of love, compassion and humanity-that is a life changing proposition.
