“THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.”
I have a question. What about ‘these’ times? How much trying will it take, this time? We have a crisis, however many ways one wishes to characterize it. Let me take a stab at a couple that I think qualify as crisis material.
Starting from the beginning:
1. Keystone Pipeline. By itself, it did not cause rampant fuel inflation, but it set the stage for what was about to come, and that was $5/gallon gasoline, and above that for diesel, which is the key fuel for transportation of everything. Take a short time machine trip, back to during the previous Trump administration, when both were in the two’s per gallon. Add that to the game of fossil fuel economy being forced into one of so-called ‘green energy’, intended on wrecking many industries on the way, like the auto, the fuel and all connected to them.
2. This thing about Afghanistan, getting soldiers killed and leaving behind billions worth of your and my tax supported weapons of war, only to enable a bunch of backward but dangerous terrorists to benefit. Talk about foreign aid! And then to allow the Chinese to what I understand as taking more mineral resources in the region. Not to mention the geography.
3. The perpetual January 6 Committee, perpetuating the left’s war against Trump, which is also a war against anyone not agreeing with them. Look at everything that happened, the FBI inserting troublemakers to instigate a mob which ends up in the jailing of innocent people. Some agency the FBI turns out to be. And that is just scratching the surface. The FBI is now coming for everyone who has a Gadsden Flag, and a few other signs and flags that they are now using as weaponry for the jailing of more of us, and I don’t own any of them that I have seen, so far. That may change.
3. The public schools system. Look what happened with several school boards across the country(Arlington comes to mind) and their leftist leaning garbage about Critical Race Theory, Pronouns, making boys into girls, and all the rest(Drag Queen Story Hour?) What can go wrong? A little FBI involvement here, also.
4. Trying, maybe passing a bill to weaponize the IRS with an additional 80 or so billion bucks, and that isn’t for enforcing corporations to pay their taxes. That’s to enforce all of us, in any way they like, to put yokes around our necks.
“What we obtain so cheap, we esteem too lightly. It is dearness only that gives everything its value.”
By placing such a low price on fair elections, what have we done? Have we not cheapened the process by allowing a stolen election, plus all the future elections? Just how do we value Freedom? Does any of this not try ‘our’ souls?
Wait until the Democrats put a bounty on your head, like they did on those who were jailed by using the Patriot Act, and held in isolation, only to be used as pawns against a former president. Witch hunt, anyone?
Maybe it is time for another version of the Declaration of Independence.
Chew on that for a while because, if you don’t, Joe Manchin doesn’t have our back, like some have blustered about. He’s gone back to selling us out. He’s all in on that $80 billion IRS “Deal” and talking to his sidekick, Sinema.
My soul is shot. Not much left to try. This time, the conflict will be as hard as what Thomas Paine wrote about, if not worse.
