A few days ago, Moldova, the second poorest nation in Europe after beleaguered Ukraine, held a national referendum where their people approved, by a slim 50.4%, to join the European Union.
Sadly, those Moldovans who voted for this just signed their nation’s death warrant, for I predict that Moldova will soon be manipulated into throwing troops into the war against Russia.
One of the key caveats is that Moldova, while soon to become a member of the EU, is not a member of NATO, though it has been part of NATO’s Partners for Peace program since the mid-1990s.[1] As an EU member, the government of President Maia Sandu will be manipulated to throw themselves into the Russo-Ukraine War, particularly to invade neighboring Transnistria. In February of 2023, protests erupted in Moldova’s capital Chisinau, demanding that Sandu’s government avoid being sucked into the conflict. In contrast, the U.S. National Endowment for Democracy (NED) has tried to make it appear as if Russia would invade Moldova, but this is pure fantasy. Rather, it appears that Russia is concerned that Moldova will be mobilized to wage war against her.
And this makes Transnistria a target in the Neocon war against Russia.
Moldova has a population of about 3 million. Its total military personnel, including reservists, is just under 75,000. Moldova has between 45-65,000 people reaching military age annually, which means they can raise a significant force for their region. Moldova’s eastern neighbor is the breakaway province of Transnistria, accepted by many to be legally part of Moldova and yet also considered to be occupied by Russia. Transnistria wanted to remain part of the Russian Federation should Moldova decide to merge with Romania. Moldova instead chose to be independent, and Transnistria remained separate as well. After border clashes in the early 1990s, a three-nation commission, composed of Moldova, Transnistria and Russia, worked to maintain a ceasefire between the two territories. At this time, Transnistria maintains an army of four brigades, being around 20,000 personnel including reservists, but its population is only around 370,000, being only about one-eighth that of Moldova, and thus unable to raise an adequate defensive force.
Zelensky of Ukraine had suggested that his country should open up another front against Russia by invading Transnistria. This proposal quietly died on the vine, but with Moldova soon joining the EU, this vision may soon become a reality. And not being a NATO member, Moldova could mobilize reservists and invade Transnistria, and then even throw those troops later into the fighting in Ukraine without activating Article 5 of the NATO alliance, which would require NATO nations to defend a member state that was being attacked.
While many have noted that President Sandu appears to be corruption free, that doesn’t mean she can’t be manipulated. She is ardently pro-West, with an known loyalty to the EU and hostility to Russia. And while money may not be a motive for her to join in the war against Russia, the EU could dangle a promise to keep Romania off of Moldova’s back. For after all, Moldova was once part of Romania, and many in the latter nation want it back.
While Sandu might be above corruption, this doesn’t mean others in her government are not. As EU and U.S. money flows rapidly into Moldova, expect to see her army increase in size in 2025, and for Moldova to then invade Transnistria.
And once Transnistria has fallen, expect to see Moldovan troops rushed by the tens of thousands into Western Ukraine to continue the new “Thirty Years War” of the 21st Century against Russia. As a result, Moldova will be ruined just as Ukraine has.
And then the pagan Neocons will look for the next sacrificial lamb to slake their bloodlust against the evil Orthodox Christian Russians.

- Being in the POP did not make a nation part of NATO. Both Sweden and Finland were involved with the POP, as was Ukraine and even Russia at one time. ↑
