Humor-Satire
By Petulant McKeyboardWarrior Timmy
Listen up, cadets — your dusty old institution is under siege… from me, the world’s most offended armchair critic. As someone who’s never fired a rifle, never been marched at 5 a.m., and whose greatest battle was choosing between oat milk or almond at Starbucks, I hereby launch my campaign to transform West Point into Soy Boy University — the safe space you never knew you wanted.
The Problem: Toxic Masculinity & “Rite of Passage” Culture
Old timers love to brag: “Warriors are made here.” “This is where leaders forged in battle emerge.” Blah blah. But guess what? We don’t exactly win wars anymore — so why cling to the nostalgia of spear-carrying, stoic statues, and shouting sergeants? We like to bug out and leave friends behind along with billions in equipment.
Those “rites of passage” are just gatekeeping rituals steeped in militaristic machismo. They muzzle feelings, punish emotions, and treat every cadet like a stormtrooper in training. Enough. Time to let feelings flow.
My Plan: Soy Boy U Curriculum
Here’s how I’d retool West Point — because who better than me, the delicate, keyboard-wielding critic?
- Trigger-warning drills. Marching? Replace with 30 minutes of mindful yoga and journaling. If any cadet feels microaggressed by the cadence, we stop and discuss.
- Speech codes all the way. Hate speech? That’s subjective. So ban any comment that might offend anyone — then we’ll host weekly “safe speech zones” where you can practice saying “I feel …” and “That triggers me …” without judgment.
- Participation trophies for valor. Every cadet gets a “Bravery Certificate” just for showing up. No one left behind. No test scores. No pushups. Because competition is oppressive.
- Emotionally vulnerable war games. Instead of “defend the hill,” participants role-play trauma in postbellum therapy sessions. The winner is the one who cries first.
- No uniforms. Enforce “business casual” so no one feels alienated by rigid dress codes. Also, emoji patches on lapels to express moods.
-
Diversity of philosophies. Every cadet must take “Postmodern Critical Theory for Warfighters” before they study tactics. Because war is just a social construct, right?
You might say: “But Timmy, war is real. Leadership under fire demands toughness, resilience, hierarchy.” To which I reply: that’s toxic. We live in a world of safe spaces and feelings — the old model is irrelevant. Cadets aren’t going to storm beaches anymore. They’re going to do staff briefs in climate control. So why keep pretending you’re forging gladiators?
Also: it’s all about progress. The military must evolve into a compassionate, trauma-aware institution. Soldiers should whisper their fears before charging. Victory should be measured by number of tears released, not territory gained.
So West Point, prepare: I’m coming for your sandbags, your pushups, your “General orders.” After I’m done, you’ll be a pastel campus where feelings are honored, conflict is emotional, and “mission” means “make everyone feel good about themselves.”
You’re welcome.
