How Christian Virtue Became a Moral Trap

The modern moral argument surrounding immigration often leans heavily on Christian language while quietly discarding Christian wisdom. Appeals to compassion are constant; appeals to discernment are conspicuously absent. The result is a moral bait-and-switch: Christians are told that disagreement with expansive, consequence-free policies is equivalent to cruelty, fear, or hatred—despite Scripture never making such a claim.

Two Moral Operating Systems, One Broken State

Historically, America understood this. Immigration was not just about crossing an ocean. It was about assimilation. Italians, Irish, Poles, Germans—none arrived culturally identical to Anglo-Protestant America. But the expectation was clear: you adopt the civic moral framework of the country you’re entering. Loyalty to tribe yields to loyalty to law. Institutions outrank kin networks. No exceptions, no special carve-outs.

“No one is above the law.” Unless, of course, it’s immigration law, and then our good friends on the left support breaking the law!
